Yes....I would be interested.

We have cherry bombs for the noise, so as long as it's 100dbls it should be okay for me.

Any idea of a date though...cos we have staff problems at the mo and as it would be my first track day in the Cerb I'm not ashamed to admit that I would appreciate Ray sitting next to me...

Edited to add....Jools....I'm sure if you agreed to arrive in and spend the whole day wearing ladies attire...no-one would object to you attending!!!!!

Oh don't encourage him Pauline He'd bloomin' do it you know, if he thought he could be the only bloke on a ladies' track day

Midgetmagoo - had you thought about blokes coming? Personally I wouldn't mind if they were vetted (by which I mean carefully selected, not 'seen to by the vet', which could be considered a little extreme ).

More than happy for 'pre-approved' boys to attend - with or without womens clothing.

One of the reasons for a ladies only is that some, (not all) boys, get a little...well, aggresive when driving on tracks. Maybe we could do split sessions or play it by ear on the day - I'm totally flexible.

I would be interested as well - never done a track day yet (or even been along and watched) so would be nice to have a first try without lots of guys trying to get round me all the time!

Brilliant response (thanks Corinne)

What I would suggest would be separate novice/veteran sessions. I have only done 2 track days (the recent one at Brunters was spent mainly on the grass - that was me with the cheesy grin) so don't worry at all about having no/little experience.

I will mail you details as soon as I can and (hopefully) we can get this sorted asap.

How do you raise money? I can't see many people paying up for you to hoon around a track.

The Company I work for will (fingers crossed) donate some beans to help pay for the day. We decide on a sensible cost for the day. Once all expenses are covered, any left over goes to charity.

We raised £1,500 recently at a day at Brunters and everyone had a great day! I don't expect to raise this amount but it all helps.

Like the idea of a novice/experienced split given this would be my first track venture.

To raise a bit more money, perhaps you might consider asking participants to raise small amounts of sponsorship from friends and colleagues for completing the session. Did a sponsored ride with the fourlegged horsepower and paid an entry fee + had to raise/pay a minimum sponsorship fee too.

Could perhaps organise a lunch for partipants and spectators with an additional mark up or a suggested voluntary donation for charity.

I'll have to hire or borrow a car - so if someone is willing to hire me a car at a discounted rate then I'll give the difference between that and the normal rate to Macmillan.

Thanks for the support and always open to suggestions. I am just nerous of putting people off but will certainly bear this in mind.

I think the sponsored ride required something like £15 in donations/sponsorship from each participant. Not a large amount on its own - but multiplied up by the number of participants it raised a reasonable amount.

Your chosen charity is very popular and the Macmillan Nurses have impacted on most people's lives in some way. I don't think it will be too difficult to get some donations from people - and even the pennies soon add up. My M-i-L sadly died from cancer and my husband is always willing to support Macmillan for the support they gave his mother whilst she was ill. A work colleague's father has just died and again the Macmillan Nurse provided a wonderful source of help and support.

Mentioned the proposed charity trackday to my husband and that I didn't think my car was suitable. Because of the charity involved he immediately said hire a car then - and that's from a Yorkshireman LOL!

I'm sure that Macmillan have fundraising packs too - but you've probably already investigated that.

Sorry it's been so quiet (not usually like me! )

Brunters are coming back to me with prices but currently have November 20th or 27th available (both Saturdays).

I guess I will be looking for volunteers for marshalling, tuition and general support.

Also, how would you feel about having alternate ladies/guys sessions on the track (from the point of view of covering costs/raising more money). If you really wouldn't fancy that, then please let me know.

I should have more of an idea by the end of the week re: costs etc.
