They are superb! I've got the Arena red turbo - not sure how all that mud got up the side though! Truly wonderful day made better by your pictures - much better than the pr photography ones available on the day!

I particularly would like pic 38 - the fez and I had a great little run together!

Thanks! (And they're not 15 quid either!!!

Excuse my ignorance - the red turbo what..? The 911 that has all the mud?

It doesn't seem to be in a pic 35 tho....?

I've got more of most cars, I'll sort out others for you a bit later if you can confirm which is yours.

I was going to write this in a personal email, but I thought it would actually be better if I wrote openly on the forum. I appreciate that it is fun to go to a trackday and take some photos, I used to do the same thing myself. However, we have an agreement with RMA that we are the only people to take photos at their events. We are living off the money made at these events, and so are not too happy when people come in and start giving away photos for free, which it is easy enough to do if it is just a hobby.

Fair enough if some people don't like the photos we took of their car, it's a free country and you don't have to buy them if you don't want to.

I'm sure that you are a reasonable person, and understand that if I went along to your employer and said that I would do your job for free, you would not be best pleased with the situation either. I hope this doesn't come across badly, hence the reason I am doing it in the open.

I'll put up a gallery of our stuff soon too if anyone else wants to see more pics.

That's all fair comment and thanks for being open, I'll clarify the situation for the future as I don't want to tread on anyone's toes (especially when it comes to money) but just on a couple of points:

"we have an agreement with RMA that we are the only people to take photos at their events. "
I paid to attend the event as a driver and none of the terms and conditions that were presented to me said I couldn't take photo's at times when I wasn't on track. Maybe this is something you should raise with RMA so that everyone is clear on it, I'm more than happy to abide by the rules but please tell me what they are first. I saw between 20 and 30 people taking pictures that day, including a small child of about ten, they obviously weren't made aware of this arrangement either and I'm sure they've been distributing photos amongst their mates as well.

"giving away photos for free, which it is easy enough to do if it is just a hobby. "
Yes - it is a hobby. I'm not a professional (or even close) and neither is my equipment or my pictures, I clearly state that and don't deny it. Your company takes the professional photos, I only take snapshots.

"if I went along to your employer and said that I would do your job for free, you would not be best pleased with the situation either."
As the professional doing my job and making the assumption that you would be the hobbyist, I wouldn't be worried as I know my employer would prefer to use the professional who can do the work to a higher standard, as your photo's and service are to mine.

"Fair enough if some people don't like the photos we took of their car, it's a free country and you don't have to buy them if you don't want to. "
No one is buying them from me either and very few people who own the cars ever contact me. My website receives tens of thousands of page impresssions after an event but I only get requests for high res images from maybe two or three, regularly it's none. The people who visit are interested in pictures of cars on track, not getting high resolution pictures or prints. That's the service you provide.

I'm sorry if I've caused offence or if you feel I'm threatening your livelihood but as I've said, no one said I couldn't take pictures - so I did, I've been posting them on my website and announcing via forums for nearly two years without any issues with other circuits or forums so I did that too. If it turns out I'm wrong, I'll certainly do something about it.

Phew, I am glad that I am not being flamed (yet...), I was warned by some people that I was in for some abuse!

It's not a major problem, and I know there are always loads of people taking photos at trackdays, which doesn't worry me. I guess the only thing really is concerning going around on the day and offering to send people photos of their car. I feel like a bit of a bastard writing this, because I know it's a grey area, and I wouldn't want to stop you enjoying yourself and taking as many photos as you want. I really only wrote the first post because some people had pointed out to us on the day that you were there and had been offering them photos.

Also, I hope you didn't take offence at the use of hobbyist, it's not a refelection on the quality of your work, which is very good by the way.

If you do come along on the 11th come over and say hello, and you can come out around the track with me for some other angles if you want. Cheers
