I'll be at Bedford tomorrow in my clio (black with a yellow sticker on the boot). Come say hello if you see me! I'll be on my own chatting to anyone who doesn't look too scary!

I've posted in the TVR forum asking for a passenger lap!

I'm going to pop down to Cadwell in my VX220 this weekend to watch and take some pics (the VX isn't quite ready to track yet) so if you do go, I'll make sure to say hello

wavey
I've booked - look for a blue/purple TVR and come and blag a passenger ride or two - bring your helmet
Awesome, bonus passenger fun! My helmet typically lives in the boot of the VX so I'll bring it down with me smile

Looking forward to it even more now Thanks QBee!

That's good - now just need to get hold of the elusive Daz, as I need someone my own size (5 litre) to thrash on Sunday

I had a ride with Petrol Ted in his GT3 last time at Bedford. Clocked him at 147 before the chicane (from the passenger seat). So next time out in the TVR I thought I would see how near to that speed I could get. Ran out of road and nerve at 135, and took to the grass straight on rather than risk an embarrassing spin next to just about the only piece of armco close to the circuit.
Told you that Kitten was fast!
Hi Antony

When I was at Bedford with Peter, I clocked 150 down the back straight and managed the chicane. You just need more power. biggrinthumbup

Have a good day.

Yep Bedford was cancelled at the entrance by a couple of staff who just said that the whole site was closed due to the unexpected snow. Thats really not on after towing a Radical for 2 hrs to arrive and be told followed by a message after 09:00 on the mobile. I was bursting my tank at this time and its not so easy to just stop with the trailer. The conditions on the way at J13 of the M1 were ok but deteriorated rapidly around Bedford itself so although we accept the conditions were not trackworthy someone at MSV should have triggered some automated messages to those who were on the way. We would have picked any message up and turned back saving loads of time. Thanks MSV you have email shoot

Let us know if you get anywhere with MSV - I know of at least one other who got all but the last mile to the track before his snowplough (I mean front splitter) and lack of grip forced him to turn back to Surrey.

I am presently faced with the same dilemma re Cadwell tomorrow, but at least I only live an hour from the track. Forecast is getting more and more dire by the minute, having been good on Thursday when I decided to book. I am sitting looking out at a blizzard while I trype this moan

Regardless of how close you got to the entrance, it's unfair to blame MSV for not letting you know early enough.

We live 25 minutes away and rang before we left, they had staff on site mega early, well before 7.30am (when driver sign on was due to start, remember?), a little bit of forward thinking would have saved you at least 3 hours of your driving, surely?

The weather forecast for the area was bad all week, I was checking it, even on Monday it was saying it was going to snow in the area from Thursday evening onwards, the Met Office website is available nationwide...

Who do I blame then myself ? for preparing a trailer and car in the week, monitoring the weather that seemed ok on the morning at 6am when we left. In my opinion and in this age of communications, not to sent their intentions out until 9am ish is not on. And the way it was done at the gate, 'Sorry mate the site is completely closed' frown

Just received from Javelin re tomorrow (Sunday)

Hi,

Unfortunately we have now been informed by the circuit operators that Cadwell Park will not be able run tomorrow due to further snowfall and predicted freezing temperatures tonight, we were hopeful a decent day today would clear it in time but the weather has decided otherwise.

In this situation our WINTER WEATHER POLICY kicks into play therefore we have marked a full credit of the money paid in your name which will be valid for 6 months, when you wish to use it please drop us an email stating the event you would like to book plus any extras and we will arrange it from there. If you know your order or transaction number then please keep it somewhere safe as this will make it easier to trace your credit when you wish to use it. Please note that all credit transactions must be done via email so that both parties have a written record of what has been agreed. If you wish to transfer your credit into someone else’s name then you can do that providing you send us an email authorising that change.

The current cold weather is predicted to pass by the middle of next week so alternative dates coming up at Cadwell Park are Sat 7th Feb or Sun 22nd Feb, however the credit covers all Javelin trackdays events so it is up to you where and when you wish to use the credit. Please note that the credit will expire 6 months from the date of this email, it can be used to book events scheduled after this date but once the expiry date has been reached then no further changes can be made and any unused credit will be lost.

Kind Regards

Yeah, I'd say so.

The weather is crap, the whole country is getting snow. Like I say, even though I didn't have to drive for 3 hours to get there, I thought "you know what, I'm going to check as is has actually snowed."

In this age of communications... you could have checked on the way, saving yourself time and hassle.

Thats good from Javelin passing the email on the day before to save hassle. If the weather in Bedford was saying bad all week then maybe they should have taken a similar approach. The forecast looked ok for Bedford all week with some chance of snow but 10 mins down the road from Bedford there was no snow and bright sunshine with a reading of 6 degrees on the dash so it's hard to tell when you have to leave at 6am. If someone was in way before 7.30 then surely a call/message wouldn't go a miss? We enter all our details onto the website so it can't be that difficult. I received an email at 9am. I understand it being cancelled as it was that bad but waiting for people to show up is far from ideal. My only thinking is that they were desperatly trying to clear the track as they wanted the event to go ahead but didn't realise until to late that it was a no go. Hey ho winter trackways and onto the next one smile

It's in their ts&cs that they will try to notify people beforehand but can't guarantee it

To add a bit of balance, it was MSV that told Javelin that the Cadwell track was closed by weather, but at least they have acted on it. Guess they just got caught out at Bedford.

I take your point about checking, but weather is very localised, as has been pointed out, and how was my friend from Dorking supposed to call them at 0530 to find out whether it was still on? He needed to make an early start to get through the M25 traffic and up to the venue. No call or email and it was reasonable to assume it was still on.

They really needed to have made the decision the previous day (surely they subscribe to the MetOffice weather service?), or at least have got to work on it before first sparrow fart when they saw the snow. One text at 0630 (there must have been someone there to open up) would have saved him at least 100 miles driving and a tricky time in the snow with 385 bhp through the rear wheels

Onwards and upwards then, next booking already made with MSV at Brands Hatch on Sunday 15th, lets hope we get a milder spell in a couple of weeks time smile, if this is cancelled I'm taking the Radical out on the road, no one will notice biggrin
