Anything equivalent to the MSVT 'how fast'?
Discussion
We are looking to attend an MSV 'How Fast' event at Bedford if possible. I understand that Bedford is one of the few places that it's OK for a novice to time a hot lap due to the amount of run off.
We're just looking for the fun competition element of it but, unfortunately, the only date set for one at the moment isn't suitable and no other dates have been mentioned for this year.
I'm wondering if anything similar is run anywhere else? We just want to be able to time some cars in a nice safe environment.

Get in touch with a sprint club! There are plenty who operate at Curborough, Blyton Park and other airfield circuits, where the whole aim of the day is to do solo timed runs.
As much as I enjoy track days for having fun, learning a circuit and developing my car it's really hard to match the thrill of a full-bore sprint lap. Still remember my first one!

Keep us posted - I for one would be interested in doing more of this sort of thing. Having done a Javelin day before it's great fun and works out cheaper and easier on the car than a track day. The only problem is that you might not have anyone with similar times to compete against. The javelin days run alongside a GT86 championship which would be spectacular fun so long as everyone had to keep their cars standard! The results are within .1 secs... Brilliant racing
Have you looked at www.sprintandtrackday.co.uk and http://www.motorpunk.co.uk/features/sprint-series/...
They have monthly non-MSA sprints (or just practice) at Curborough for all car types. I've been and it was a relaxed fun day.
There's also a MLR Mitsubishi Lancer Register sprint series - who I think allow Imprezas as well as EVOs? Similar to Javelin set up.
Otherwise timed events (sprints/hillclimbs) tend to be MSA regulated so you would all need a non-race B licence plus approved helmet, gloves & racesuit. Great against the clock and trying to get it all right for one lap.
