I would like to get involved, too.

Please let me know if you have space and how many extras could be filled. I know 2 or 3 others who would jump at the chance...

I've gotta see this R400 of Earls and a bit of track action is about a year overdue for me...

Surely you are all talking the wrong sort of horsepower. Have you forgot that the Cheltenham Festival is 4 days this year.

I don't know

Yep, i'll definitely be there. Very concerned about the noise issue though

Even if the bimmer is too loud, it'll still be a day out of the office...

Right then, without wanting to sound like a complete jesse.

How is Combe for run offs should the worst happen?

I had a bit of a read on CircuitDriver last night but as its a new car and I havent been on a track for some time I am getting a bit 'worried'

I see you put first timers welcome but what is going to be the general sort of skill level? I assume these people with CSL's have been on track lots?

Hey ho, as you were, I know, big puff, blah, blah, blah...

Combe is not good for run off in the fast sections...PEROID!

When you set off from the pit lanes, you come over Avon rise into Quarry. Losing it on the left going over the crest and you have run-off, losing it into Quarry and you have a short section of grass before you see armco.

Next you have the Esses, these arent too bad, as you can always go straight on if you screw up on the approach, and then move through cones, or go in field if you lose it in the corner. As a point of interest dont be tempted to go too far to the left to take the next right hander as it wastes time.

The next bad one is Tower, little or no run-off here, and Ive seen a TVR change shape on that bend.

Bobbies is the same as the Esses, and then lastly there is Camp, by the start/finish, sampled the delights of the tarmac there myself

Combe is a great circuit, it is very wide....Infact I think it is the widest in the country? so there is a fair bit of tarmac to slow down on. Be careful in the wet, but common sense applies there.

Have fun

I'll have to miss the March one, due to dodgy offside front suspension, minimal brake disc thickness and not having my spigot rings for my track wheels.

Looking forward to May!

Quick poll: "Who brakes before/after Avon Rise"

I brake on top, just after levelling off - does this mean I am going too slow?

There are a couple of places to be wary. The old paddock corner is a bit saucy as if you spin there, you are close to the armco and Camp (the corner coming onto the start line) can be dodgy if you turn too early as you will find the exit comes at you fast and you will probably have lifted and will spin in or out and could find metal!

Everyone talks about quarry, but unless you are racing and stuffing up the inside etc, the only two spins you are likely to have are under braking in the avon rise as turns left, and you plenty of tarmac to slow you, or on the exit of quarry too much right foot could have you off onto the infield where you would be unlucky to hit anything.

If in doubt, go carefully!

I reckon Oulton and Brands GP have far more opportunity for panel damage.

Nut- I really can't see it passing the strict CC measurements as it is mate. (assuming gix's days have to comply with the same levels as normal?) Get some aftermarket shove on the end of exhaust supertrap type jobbies, tho the inlet might be also be a bit lairy on the drive by too.

Now, this was part two in my two part worry.

If I do go carefully I will invariably hold someone much more skilled up.

Considered bad form or all part of the tracking experience?

Imminent sprog alert knackers my attendance, chaps - sorry.

Getting to Brunters is going to be tricky enough, there's no way I could do this too.

When's the next 'un?

Don't be daft.

95% of attendees will be novices and most trackday virgins. You will be fine, and we are freindly bunch. It is a fun day and no bullying will be tolerated.

There are strict protocols on courtesy and overtaking, so no worries.

And Der, surely in your current pre-paternal state you should be "scrote de Nord"....

Matt even if you are going slowly as long as you check ya rear view regually & pull to the right on a reasonably straight bit, everyone will be happy clappy & joyful.

The issues come when people go slow & keep on the line & never pull over, esp if like most novices they corner slowly & then belt it on the straight bits, then it can get silly, (I had this with a goon on Sunday & had to have a *ahem* quiet word later in the pits) its very frustrating to follow those type of people & some people get tempted to do right hand side overtakes or pile past in the braking areas etc etc both are pretty silly & way too agressive for a track day.
