Nurburgring 2017
Discussion
I'll be at the Nordshleife on 20-21 May. Can someone please help me with this new app thingy.
Do I need to top up my account with credit now or on the day I wish to drive the Ring?
If I try and do it today, on the checkout page (see below) it mentions today's date, so can I not use this in the future?

You can do it either now or when you get there-now obviously saves you having to go into the office at the Ring to do it.
The staff there told me the credit has no expiry date-handy when your car breaks... (don't ask me how I know this).

So do I just then flash the QR pic from the app every time I go to the barriers? I.e. If my phone runs out of battery, I'm buggered?

I expect to see 160+ in my 30 year old 230k mile 928 on Tuesday.
Ha ha yeah In kmh maybe! iguana said:
It was a pretty surefire bet really!
If you hit a real 160+ under the bridge in that old 928, I will buy you dinner & many beer.
I think you may owe me dinner if I am ever at the same track day as Paul and you... If you get the right exit speed onto the main straight and you keep your foot buried into the carpet nudging 160 is perfectly doable. The 928, especially over 100 is quite a bit quicker than E46 M3 for example... Would need to borrow Paul's car for a lap, as my 928 would do a bit more but then it is not exactly stock If you hit a real 160+ under the bridge in that old 928, I will buy you dinner & many beer.

It was a bit wet on Tuesday and I kept getting ABS/PSM shutdown after exiting the Karussell, which is handy, especially when it got proper slippy up around the summit of the circuit. Still, with that and touristenfahrten the day before, I've got another few laps under my belt.
Great to meet all the other PHers again, Cunno, ukkid35, Wh00sher, NSA. Special thanks to Farook for demonstrating what a 991 GT3 can do in rather challenging conditions - it's a car I'd long wanted to experience

160mph in a 30 year old 928 is rather impressive - as it happened, my E46 M3 managed 149mph GPS on DH in the wet before I backed off due to traffic and sheer terror (forgot RainX and the wipers aren't very effective at that speed), so I can imagine in the dry another good few mph on top... The age of the car means absolutely nothing - the 928 held the production car top speed record for a while set by Al Holbert in 1987 - 177mph I think. I have had my E46 M3 against a 1987 S4 5spd and was genuinely surprised that from 100 on the 928 walks it with considerable ease. Tried it with a different M3 - thought mine could be a duff one - same story. My 928GTS 5-spd walks it from any speed. There is no substitute for cubic inches. Paul's 928 is actually a very strong car, which bellies its age and mileage, hence my confidence in saying that 160 is perfectly doable. 150 in the wet takes balls. The sensation of speed as you go under the bridge is quite palpable. I did 270km/h in my GT3 during last year's CD day only to have a numpty cut across in the compression. The nomex on the seat was somewhat dark brown instead of black when I got back to the car park.

It's the possibility of a slow vehicle, just joined the circuit, hiding down in the Antoniusbuche dip after the bridge that fills me with terror. I know someone who had a big off in those circumstances - easily done, especially when you watch their video clip.I had an indicated 162mph (probably GPS of about 150 plus, at a guess) on a clear run. The speed that all the stuff at the end of the straight suddenly arrives is really rather mesmerising.

This, re a slow car hiding down in the Antoniusbuche dip ^ I had an indicated 162mph (probably GPS of about 150 plus, at a guess) on a clear run. The speed that all the stuff at the end of the straight suddenly arrives is really rather mesmerising.
