There's definitely some skill in some of the drifters (although I can't see the point to be honest), but also there seems to be a total lack of respect for safety with people going for it when others are in the middle of a spin, or off track etc. Same marshals/clerk of the course who would black flag in a race. Whoever was in the Yeti was bloody good though!

Never instructed or participated in a drift day and never will, I value my life too much after one person turned up in a drift car at a track day and poured oil on his tyres before trying to go out 😱

On the subject of Castle Combe incidents, who remembers this one?

Not sure what happened with his insurance in the end, apparently he tried to claim it happened on the public roads laugh

Looks like the kind of crap they run at Knockhill with wannabes who think going over the edge is fun,
Have you ever been to a Knockhill day? Or are you basing that on the one "team gimp" video from 15 years ago where the people involved were banned from ever returning to the circuit?

I remember that video, simply incredible they were allowed to get away with that on the day!

And they used to black flag me for drifting?!

This is going back nearly 20 years, but some of the things I saw in the pit lane on the hot hatch days were unbelievable. Drivers could be identified by wrist bands the same as any other track day. I remember talking to one guy who had lost his licence but had still managed to sign on as a driver. He was a bouncer so had been up all night. Whilst chatting to him he was drinking... rum and coke. There always used to be a strong smell of weed waiting in those queues too, God knows what else some of them had taken.

The Yeti is owned by a mate of mine, it was 500bhp in this video, and is currently being rebuilt as 720+ with a 5cyl TTRS engine.
The same guy also owns a fleet of skyline GTRs and racing fiestas, plus a boatload of other stuff. Living the dream really... biggrin

So again, historical tales of bad behaviour through cloudy memories and fishermans tales. Nothing to do with the current state of play.

On the subject of historic bad behaviour, i remember a vid a few years ago featuring IIRC a chap in a Westfield (or similar ) being overtaken by a (again IIRC) a badly driven Cavalier SRi with four lads aboard.
Shocking to the point of hilarity hehe
I think it was at Knockhill , and i'm sure that stuff doesn't go on anymore, but i'm wondering if it's still on Youtube

Yup that yeti is ace and absolutely hilarious! Also know the owner - he's fast and has been having some excellent results racing a fiesta. Really good lad smile

I absolutely loved that!!

Much better to watch live, it was always a highlight of the hot hatch days. Charlie Shaw and another guy (who has escaped my memory) that had a cossie were and no doubt still are legends.

Myself and so many others always watched those lads in amazement, they had a huge following and were rightly given privileges by the staff to do that.

They used to run a drift comp called " Challange Charlie".

Them were the days.... smile
