Nurburgring Passenger Rides 2017
Discussion
When I went few weeks ago I had the choice between 2 Evo 6 Tommi Makinens owned by 2 mates .
I made the right choice as best mate only ever chases lap times and on this day it was damp too.
Mate 2 drove how I would've driven ,sensibly and backing off regularly.
Best mates girlfriend spent some time in the loo afterwards.......

A few years ago I was at the Ring and having a look around the main car park one morning. I was admiring a parked up German registered GT3 with its engine running. The owner jumped out and explained he needed to go and buy some laps, and having just taken it out of storage didn't want to turn the engine off in case it cut out, then asked if I'd mind sitting in it whilst loading his lap card...!
In short, payback from him and his other GT3 owning friend was a good number of properly fast laps and something I'll never forget.
On getting out I went to the toilets underneath the diner and lost my breakfast!

Don’t forget that the majority of Brits on tourist days are driving uninsured. Worth thinking about what happens if you crash and injure a passenger that you have just met; you would probably be fine but you wouldn’t have the safety blanket of an insurance policy.
I think you accept a certain level of risk doing a tourist day without insurance (an accident that is your fault, injuring another driver, damage to car, barriers etc), but passenger laps seems like increasing risk unnecessarily.
Yes, I have done plenty of tourist days and yes, I have taken at least one passenger out. I probably wouldn’t do it again.

5. Pay for the lap.
Mrs Muttleysnoop.
Really ? I wouldn`t dream of asking someone to contribute towards the lap cost ! That`s not what it`s about at all to me.Mrs Muttleysnoop.
I always have a list of people asking if I can take them out for a lap. I`m happy to oblige but make a point of asking early on if the pace is acceptable or if they`d rather me speed up / slow down, then I ask again a little later.
There is no point going on a `watch this` lap and scaring them witless, it`s no fun and they`ll remember it for all the wrong reasons. Going quick enough so they can take it in but slow enough so you have full control and are nowhere near your own limit and seeing they are feeling comfortable is the way I always approach it..
Hi there, adding on to this 2017 post vs creating a new one.
I am headed out to the Nurburgring either April 8th or 9th (2018) and would prefer riding with someone doing a lap vs driving a rental car or paying the full $295 Euro for one of the various (one lap) taxi services. (i'd also be happy to pitch in for one of the 3 person M3 Taxis if anyone else is in the same situation as me)
Is anyone headed out that way on those dates interested in doing a lap? Thanks, Blake

Took a couple of diff guys out for some laps last yr they approached me as they were big R8 fans so I was more than happy to oblige, track day though as opposed to TF so safer overall environment to go out in. I've done the ring taxi passenger laps in a GT3 and the F type SVR (with Dale Lomas) during TF, given the skill and experience of the drivers it certainly lowers the risk of experiencing a fast TF lap.
