Yes I'm going. Its probably my first day in about 4 years (young kids being the reason!).

Grey 205 GTi, sharing with a friend who has never done a track day before. I've probably done about 7-8 days at Abingdon before, but I think the layout might be different now. It'll be good to blast the cobwebs out.

I’m going , will be giving my MX-5 a first run out since adding a few go-faster bits. No chance of keeping up with a BBR300 though!

I'm also going on 14/07, never done an airfield track day before... I'll be in a Civic Type R (FK8).

Is Abingdon worth bothering with? Or is it worth paying the extra £30-40 quid and going to Combe?
Combe is probably worth £300-400 more.

Regarding the layout, it changes each lap as the cones move, worst track day I have ever attended.

I'm not sure that's completely fair. It's a fun setup for hooning around on and unlike Combe (which I love) there are very few things to hit if you get it wrong.

For £150 I think it's a fun track to do. Fun being the key word there (versus a "proper" track where rewarding is probably a better desciptor)

I did my first Abingdon track day yesterday. Friendly crowd, sunny weather, cheap track fee and circuit that’s was fast enough stretch the legs of my Cayman but not too heavy on the brakes. It’s not a “proper” circuit like Donington or Brands in the sense that cones get knocked off, replaced, as the result the corners are a bit different each time - but if you come expecting fun, there’s plenty to be had. Wasn’t too heavy on the tyres (i.e. abrasive) like I was worried it would be. Good experience, I’ll be back.

Ed and Natasha run a decently organised event. No nonsense with uncontrolled oiks. Leastways, it was when I went last a while ago.

Was also there on Saturday (one of the orange Caterhams).

Was good day and certainly "scorchio" !! Was generally a well behaved crowd and didn't see any major issues.

Pity about the car that emptied it's oil around 3.30 as we were just planning to do our last runs. Decided to give up after the length of time to clear. Didn't spoil the day as overall we enjoyed it, just didn't get to have one last run....probably good as the rubber was getting close to the wear bars & its in for MOT this week !

Was my sons first experience (as passenger) and I think he's a convert.....he was a bit shocked to begin as he's only every been passenger on roads in my Caterham for the last 10 years :-). Track is a whole new level LOL ;-)

Had a very enjoyable day.

Weather played ball, wasn’t to hot.

Good mix of cars and decent etiquette on track.

Felt very rusty to start with, first track day since 2019 for me.

Also first TD having had a plate diff installed into the Caterham.

Car was cracking, love the way the diff makes the rear dig in and drive, plus the grip from the 888’s is off the scale…..

It was my first outing to Abingdon today, and the first in my Civic Type R (The red FK8), met some lovey people today, such a variety of cars, some quick Caterhams too. I found the chicanes to be a bit tight but still a lot of fun..

They were very tight, I agree, but keeps speeds down I guess.

Ive always found MSE to run days exactly like today, friendly and welcoming to all, and usually a lack of knobs.

Totally, although for your narrow two seaters the chicanes were easy to navigate through, my wide as FK8 Civic struggled through the last one, I think I bought. cone home with me lol. It was well orgnaiszed and didn't come across any idiots on the day, some great cars, that 500bhp Hyabusa twin turbo mini was crazy.

I certainly had a lot of fun today.

Ah so Turn7 you were next to us the whole day now I've read posts back.

Good to chew the fat. Shame we were never really out at the same time on circuit.

Jon (old 205 GTi!)

Edited to add;
Much fun as per usual! First time back in about 5years for me. The chicanes with no power steering made for quite the workout! Most sessions I came in dripping.

Haha, thats funny!

I think your car sounds epic, and looks a hoot to drive btw......

IIRC, as I was wobbling around in the first session, you came past me.....

Also, just to add - the Fury that was dropping fuel - that stopped totally after the fuel cap was left out. Gary has only had the car 4 weeks and this was his first time out with it, and also his first ever BEC....

Ha Ha, he wasn't that quick as even I went past him but I assume it wasn't running well. The chap also had that blue EVO that was flying around too. I've got the bug again after today, time to get some proper track day rubber as my tyres were the weak like (of course not my driving limits lol)...

I'm glad he got the Fury sorted easily, I actually ended up following him for a few laps after the petrol incident, I was half expecting to come a cropper on a bit! Lol.
