I'll be there on my old Boxster. I'm looking forward to finally getting my lines right this time around (I kept getting the apex wrong on one of the corners last time).

Will come round and say hello

I will be there on Friday. Weather forecast looks crap with rain all day.

Does anyone know if they have garages / shelter when not out on the track? (will be in a Caterham)

They have a tent area normally where the cars go out onto the track (end of the “pitlane”), but no garages. I might try and fit an easyup in my support car, less tyres are needed if it’s raining!

I'm local to abingdon and the forecast doesn't look too horrific. Seems like showers and sunshine

It's an airfield - no buildings at all. The organisers have an inflatable tent for signing on and keeping helmets for hire, etc., but not for cars. Some take gazebos for wet weather but as it is an airfield it gets pretty windy. Even the inflatable has blown over in the past!

This was at Hullavington on a memorable occasion. The only time I've spun...

good circuit to play on. abingdon was where i first cut my teeth on trackdays.
get your brakes sorted and you should have a good day - pads & fluid minimum, discs also good option.

I'm also waiting for the dates to go up, but with a number of brake improvements i want on my car before i go, not being tied to a date is probably a good thing right now.

I'm booked in for the 1st of March. 29th would have been better for me but we are expecting our second child in early April and I couldn't get sign off from the wife!

Have I imagined it or have prices gone up since last year? I seem to remember them being about £130 before.

I am in Reading so this track is nice and local for me.

I have my second track day at Bedford next Monday so what is Abingdon like for the novice track day driver?

Excellent because, like other airfield tracks, there's loads of run-off and as long as you don't hit the grass fully sideways you'll be fine. There's no tricky gradient changes (it's an airfield!) and therefore no sudden loss of grip. MSE are excellent track day providers in that they keep the dangerous types off. Once you transgress you are hauled in and given a talking to. Do it again and you're off home. I haven't been since 2016 (I think) and they did change the layout. This was a temporary change though, as far as I know. Circuits are great but there's a lot of hard surfaces such as embankments and Armco to collect your car if you make a mistake.

brilliant for the novice. it's where i cut my teeth on and likely going to be my main trackday location - an hour drive, cheap (vs dedicated circuits) and safe with plenty of run off.
I've only been to Abingdon so nothing to compare the day to, but MSE are good.
with any luck this weeks purchases should make my cars brakes more dependable on track and will be tested at Abingdon before i book in at other events. Donnington and Bedford are on list of places to visit.

they do change the layout of abingdon. I've been 3 times and every time its different. first time on the old layout with pits at the south end of runway, new layout with pits over in south-west taxi pathway, and a third where the MOD rented out the grass to a farmer and didn't clear his sheep off the north end, so the track had to be tweaked to accommodate that. every time the layout has been good.
