Is it worth going the ring in a boring car? I have got an Audi A3 diesel, such a boring car but hard to justify changing it. (I don’t fancy driving over there in my Elise)
Is it worth going init? I would love to go just to expirence the ring as I have never been. But worried it would be a let down in such a st car.

I would definitely do a lap init just to say I have been around the ring. But would probably be a mobile chicane in the numb, understeery a3
I would not worry.

Just be vigilant and keep an eye on the rearview mirror and be aware the closing speeds from the faster machines might be quite high. If you see them just indicate early to the right and move over; preferably on a straight bit.

I did 100's of laps there in the early 2000's in a mk2 Golf GTI and never had an issue.

Top tip...a la the F1 Red Bull incident last weekend, the closing speed may be high, only indicate when you are ready to move over. Don't let them assume there will be a gap if there is not!!

You'll be fine.

In short.... I really don't think it matters. My first lap was in an RSR supplied Renault Twingo RS lol.

I went my first time in my track prepped, fiesta ST, and when there i saw all sorts of stuff having a blast lapping. Including a scottish bloke and wife in a renault traffic van (sport, he insisted it was a sport). So I don't think you'll have any issues taking the daily bus!

Just be mindful of traffic, there's a lot of incomprehensibly quick 911's, M3's, and old golfs that run rings around you!

That said you'll probably wish you took the elise as soon as you forget about the fact your spine is still intact after the drive across the continent smile

Overall i found the atmosphere of the place just as fun as actually lapping, worth popping down The Crown in Adenau for a few pints and to chat waffle about all things Nurburgring with the lads behind the bar!

yes I have lapped a 1.3 corsa diesel, Vectra diesel, Old mk3 astra GSI, type r's etc every car I have had I have lapped its all about enjoyment and drive within your comfort zone.

I would recommend renting a swift from R4R. yes 136bhp but handle so well and are great to learn in. Also upset some quicker things. You have insurance then and you can get tuition which I recommend also.

As a first timer a slower more boring car can actually be better.

I have been going over thirty years and in that time have driven all sorts of stuff around (a battered Transit and a Toyota Picnic stick in the memory bank for some reason).

Use your mirrors (all of them), be polite to faster cars and signal your intentions very clearly indeed.

And enjoy it.
