DS2500s 1 day? I have managed 2 full days at Donington, A full day at Bedford, 2 Sessions at brand hatch , 2 sessions at Castle Combe several days at Santa Pod, 2k road miles and 7 laps of the Nurburgring on mine and they still had at least 40% left when I bought another set to replace them.
No problem, you drive different to me, drive a different car to me so un-surprisingly experienced different wear to me.
I am very hard on the brakes, to destroy them in a day you wpuld have to have sticking calipers or have them fitted to a Range Rover.

Well, I am sorry to disappoint you but neither of those were true.

Yellow stuff lasted until just after lunch on a day at Cadwell.

DS2500 lasted a day at Cadwell, but needed changing before the next one, next to no miles in between.

Both needed (or would before the next track day, and I am particularly anal about tyres & brakes, so were changed as a precautionary measure) new discs at the same time.

Both were using grooved e46 330 discs on AP CP6600 calipers from a Tuscan racer, needless to say she stopped on a 6d and I am hard on brakes in what is a fairly heavy car.

Conversely Pagid RS29 pads in the same set up I found lasted a full year of track days & one set of the same discs, I just used to change the lot as a precaution each year.

Insightful but obviously incorrect.

I've got a pair of ds1.11s fitted to the front. Are they a good pad? New with brembo high carbons. Will be doing my first track day this year. Hopefully.

Yes, good pads. Like Unos. Tailored for endurance I believe. Hold on I’ll check...

Yep, endurance with a siloxane tech.

Probably a stupid question, but what does it mean by, Warning, not suitable for Road use?

Not an expert. But I take that to mean a few possible things:
  • May not work well when cold
  • Have not been TUV approved and/or other approvals.
  • Make loads of noise most of the time. Other people will think the car is broken if they drive it.

Pads should be good but my brembo HC discs were knackered after 2 track days.

What discs do you use instead?

Ah, I'm using them on the road at the moment...

They squeal like crazy, but I'm aware, so it's fine. Cold bite is also very good.

I bought some m-tec ones which lasted just one session. I have now upgraded to larger 330mm 2 piece Reyland discs which were silly expensive and will see how they do when I do some sessions at Deutschfest, a full day at Combe and the Nurburgring in the coming couple of months.

I've only got a 172, so shouldn't be carrying too much speed. What car are you running?

Along with SLIGHT warm up issues it basically means you have good brakes & can stop on a 6d.......... The bloke behind hasn't!

Interesting. My Unos don't squeal at all.
And also, half the pads mentioned so far, apart from perhaps DS2500, are race pads I believe.
Certainly DS3000 which squealed awfully and wore out my discs on no time

Stand to be corrected of course...

Had DS2500's in my 300hp/1150Kg GT86 with a 330mm x 28mm Stoptech ST40 Kit and they died a death pretty quickly at Silverstone, pedal was giving up after about 5 laps of the national track with fresh PFC fluid (Still had pad left, just fade resistance was pretty crap). Really don't rate them as a track pad. Lack a lot of feel for modulation too, but that's fairly subjective.

Project Mu Clubracer and PFC 08/11 Compound are what I'll be sticking to from now on! Great feel and stopping power, awesome fade resistance. PMU's aren't too "squealy" on the road, but the brake dust is dire! laugh

Yes, they're all dedicated track pads. I was told the DS2500s are okay, but if I'll be doing a few track days, the DS1.11s are worth it as they're more of an endurance pad.
