Here's my best 2 laps from today.

Probably some more time to shave off, but happy with the last few sessions.

Good day today, some nice motors and a good turnout.

Track was closed briefly for a Subaru in the kitty litter, and a few yellow flags throughout the day but no major problems.
Great day out there yesterday! A nice selection of cars...TT ran well especially in the afternoon sessions and only missed a beat when I almost ran out of fuel on track, went through at least 75 litres!..
Now more camber needed up front and cup2’s ...really passed the limits of the street tyres yesterday.

The silver scooby hatch that went into the gravel in the first half hour, if you're on here, have a word with yourself, spectacularly awful driving.

Aside from that i had a fun day, thing i want to upgrade the track car though...

Good to meet you yesterday and well driven!
There is time to be had at this circuit especially in the fast transitions (straight chicane, last 2 corners, Palmer curves) and that’s what I find enjoyable about going there; always a challenge and the perfect lap will always be there to be had!

I never saw the incident; did he just put brake himself? Most of the drivers were sensible and courteous, the cars on slicks definitely had a distinct advantage. Several of the trackday special/not road legal cars had mechanical failures throughout the day.

Two good laps with minimal traffic, with such a wide track there are several different lines to take. Have you had any tuition at all?

Thanks smile There were so many cars on track was hard to get a clean run! Had to make the most of it when it finally happened. No tuition as of yet, 5th track day. 2nd at Bedford. Most time I find is on the brakes and taking a liberal interpretation of track limits biggrin

Likewise! With such a long circuit it's hard to nail everything in one lap. Cup 2's and camber plates were definitely worth the purchase though.

Dive bombing into corners, and finally out-brakes himself yes.

Video below of a few laps in the afternoon running 2:49’s with a bit of traffic. Great day all in all, motor was strong, really needing 2 degrees negative camber up front (plates should be here tomorrow!) and Pilot Sport Cup 2’s as my choice tyre. Only my second track day with the car, both at Bedford and plenty of time to be had with more grip. Overall really happy with the balance and feedback of this TT!

Love the comment about the amount of fuel making the car less agile, assuming it was tongue-in-cheek. laugh

I was pleased to break in to the 2:40’s but know there’s more; obviously getting a clear run is one, then also this track is quite a technical mix and on my second visit I now know where there is a bit more in the current setup. The straight chicane I was overbraking instead of focusing on carrying speed through and down the following straight (I like your line through there!) and there’s some left on the table in a couple of fast sweepers including the last corner. Out of interest what speed were you carrying through that last one? Looked quick when I saw you from the pit lane!
With track tyres and camber plates I’d be aiming at low 2:40’s with this car. Anything more planned for the M2?

Last corner I would guess 95mph at fastest. But you've got to use a lot of kerb on the inside and exit. Low 2:40's should be doable, similar pace to the M2 it seems.

Not got much more planned, maybe a set of Öhlins. I'm thinking about picking up an Exige 350 as a track car. The rate I eat through consumables on the M2 is just insanity!

When are you next planning on another Bedford outing?

Probably get back to Bedford as soon as I get the camber plates and cup2’s on. Croft is my local circuit so I’d like to go there soon also. I spent 25 years living in the US so all the UK tracks are new to me.
Are you going through brake pads quickly? Might want to try some Pagid RSL 29’s; they do last well.
Exige 350 would be great, but If I were you I’d develop the M2...more fun to see where you can get it to! Ohlins should make a good bit of difference.

Post something up when you're next heading there, I'll probably come along. My PFC 08's have about 70% left in them, but the discs are looking like they need to be replaced soon. Would certainly be fun to keep pushing the M2, but the inherent mass of the car and my "driving style".......or lack of mechanical sympathy! laugh is causing me to go through a set of front tyres every 1/2 track days.

Great laps mate, ridiculously quick esp for so little experience! smile

Saw your post on track time about the cup 2’. You should try getting some temp readings across the tyre next time you’re out, then you’ll know what to do about camber and pressure. Can swap the wheels over too depending on which circuit you go to next, all are clockwise so probably no need unless you go back to Bedford.

Just got an M4 and having camber plates put in, desperately hoping they’re not going to start knocking and do my head in.. which I’m sure they will 😂

Fingers crossed I’ll be at Brands on mon eve... then got snett booked for the 12 sept.

£500 is too much for me to spend on pads. Did you try the stock pads?

I wouldn’t worry about the discs, they should last ages with those little cracks. I know what you think about tracking a heavy car but not sure you’re right having done it. It’s more expensive but not that much. Biggest cost is always fuel.

I ran a 1600kg Car with about 500 bhp, it was actually really good on tyres, they always went off before the tread wore away. Nothing like the sidewall wear you had, it can be done smile

Thanks for all the tips! I'll get a pyrometer bought and see if I can sort it out, may just be a case of me staying out for too long and not doing decent cool down laps. If you need brake pads, give me a shout on Facebook! I get a decent discount on PFC, Ferodo and Stoptech gear smile

Funnily enough I'm actually at Snetterton on the 12th too (not sure as to whether I'll be tracking or not though). What camber plates did you go for? Mine are Millway ones and they're barely noticeable, especially if you put music on.
