Your car has now become even more exclusive, I was at a trackday at Brands yesterday where a Gtir similar to yours got rolled in a gravel trap

Thankfully the guy seemed to come out of it unscathe....

Mike.

Yes this happened the same afternoon the wheel came off an Escort Cossie and a Renault Cup Clio (race car) driver decided to investigate the handling characteristics of his car when shod with slicks at the front and wets at the back (why?), with the inevitable consequence of an encounter with the tyre wall at paddock bend.

Compared to the afternoon, the morning session was tranquility itself, due mainly to the first hour being lost due to the fog and then there only being 20 minutes track time (total) before some hapless a destroyed a barrier which took the marshals 1.5 hours to repair.

In the meantime the organisers (fighting a losing battle against the minority who spoiled the day for the rest of us) were forced to call a 2nd briefing session to lay down the law and reiterate what was abundantly obvious to the majority of us (but sadly ignored again by the minority).

All in all quite the most expensive 20 laps I've every had the pleasure of wasting £160 and my last days leave on bugger!

Still makes you appreciate Folembray even more

Maybe its the track day company you use?

I must say that Bookatrack seem to be very clued up and professional, and I have never heard of any mishaps or dodgyness by them....well apart from shinyandy.

GTir,

The trackday company I use is excellent (Jane and I met you on one of their days this summer remember, you know who they are). It was NOT their fault at all, they were just faced with the hopeless task of trying to control half a dozen mindless h@lmets intent on buggering it up for everyone.

Well you live and learn, I've learnt not to do Brands on a discounted day, it seems to attract the wrong type of driver.....

Mike.

I am almost _certain_ that I have heard of a race-car owner trying exactly the same trick with mixed tyres at Brands earlier this year.
IIRC it was wet, and he span at Druids. I think that was a something-aTrack day as well.

I did Donnington this year (in my Alpina B10 3.3) - it was Evo magazines Track car of the year event. And I have to say that the R500 was ruling - although the Radical was not far off it's pace.

Other cars were :
R300, Caterham Academy, Ultima, Leading Edge, Westfield XR .....

I have pics on my web site of most of the cars .....
(www.FastSaloons.com) - goto "Our FastSaloons" and then click on "Neil's thoughts" and select the "Evo Trackday !" story....

Neil,

only just spotted this but some nice photos of the Donington EVO day. Only problem is that you haven't got any photos of mine (ok, you mention the car in the text! )

I was there in the 450 and got the 'Driver of the day' award which was nice. I don't actually remember your car on track at the same time as me but glad you had a great time. You should have spent some time out in the rain - it's a great way to learn how to drive smoothly - especially through the Craner Curves!

Are you doing any more EvoActive days this year?
