That elise is !
The front clam is ok, the splitter looks good (but I notice that there's no rear wing to comensate for it's effects).
The wheels are just vile, that's the kind of thing Americans do to their cars. How that car could be any use in motion is beyond me - there's no way the front wheels will be able to turn without fouling the wheel arch.

The caterfield above it is gorgeous though!

Wikkid.

That Elise looks like it just has an Exige front clam on and associated wider track with bigger wheels.

Why oh why oh why.......

I believe that he shifted up on one gearbox, but down on the other... ooops.

That is one of the caterhams from the Nurburg 24 hour isn't it. Very quick indeed. In fact so much so that it is only allowed to run a 60 litre tank, rather than a 100 litre one! Thats because if it ran a 100 litre tank it is likely it could win the race!

I agree. Also, just wondering, I was under the impression that the Elise is not sold in the US?
(i know this is a German car, plates)

All I can say is wow! I am not the best passenger in the world but I was very impressed with the car and driver, although the last couple of laps involved some cross country excursions - lonman muttering something about getting closer to the locals!.

I wasn't scared honest, but when I told Satan that Johnny from bookatrack was frantically gesturing him to slow down he replied "oh, he doesn't mean it"

Glad I did it? You bet, cant wait to go in the Ferrari!

I can tell you on more than one occasion the Bat crew sized up the thickness of the pit wall, the sideways corner exit speed of the Porsche and their public liability insurance and the black flag hand got twitchy.

It was quite alien to witness a Porsche being driven so sideways so well and relatively under control.

No it's not a Caterham.
It is a Donkervoort.
Donkervoort is the only dutch company we have. They are building high spec sevens. The used to be a caterham dealer a long time ago. Now they are producing their own cars.

IMO it depends upon the type of track and the driver. At the HHC trackday in June I couldn't catch a Vauxhall Vectra 2.5... in a Cerbera 4.5!

I fitted the rear wing because the rear was lighter thru high speed corners. The exige front clam lets me run dunlopR fronts(larger profile) Eventhough it is only 165bhp, I have gotten the chassis and suspension set up so it is fast enough for me on track (just need to sort the driver out)

For the "normal" person, a Radical SR3 would be far quicker than GT2 or Caterham R500. Very tempted...

I don't know about your definition of 'normal' but I do agree about the SR3. I was at the EVOActive trackday car of the year day at Donnington a few weeks ago and the SR3 just made everything else seem slow (including R500,R300) etc. Simon Harrison stated that it is the fastest thing he has driven and is near as damn it a race car despite the 'road legal' label!

Must say it was good being on track at the same time as pros plus the Evo staff. Pity nearly everyone except them chickened out of driving in the rain in the afternoon. Nevermind, left me lots of space to have real fun in the 450!

Perhaps I'm biased but at Donnington track day, there wasn't anything that could keep up with the Ultima Demonstrater. Ted marlow was a professional driver though, I could only keep up with him on the straights, may be a more track days and I might be a bit braver on the brakes.

May be true but it spent so little time on the track it would be unfair to comment. The SR3 was in use just about all day. Would have been nice if the demonstrator was used for a bit more than just prospective or existing customers.

Must admit though, out of the cars there it would have to be the one I would want....Only thing to sound better than my 450 ;-)

I found this in a thread in Blatchat.
www.blatchat.com
Richard Ince who owns a Radical SR3 and a Caterham R500
says:
quote:

I am glad that I am not the only one who has trouble getting the SR3 off the line. I have compared acceleration data from my R500(R101 spec) and SR3. When I first had the car I did see better acceleration in the R500, now I find that the additional cornering speeds of the SR3 negates this difference. Once on the move the SR3 is a quicker car than the R500. Cadwell 7 seconds, Croft 8 seconds!
The Radical has a large wing to drag through the air and is much wider that a R500, I suspect this is a factor when comparing the performance of the two cars.

He raced the R500 in the Centurain Challenge last year, and used the SR3 this year.

He won the championship in the R500 (with a very able co-driver in Austin Kinsella). He's a very nice bloke, although I wouldn't like to be dicing with him for position in a race (I was always a bit behind his pace), as (like all Caterfield racers), he's had his brain removed.
