Hi all,

I'm a regular at Cadwell, Oulton and Donnington. I've also done Anglesey.

On my list for 2020 is Knockhill and Silverstone. I've got room for two or three more! I want something exciting rather than fast. No airfields. What have I missed?

Brands Hatch GP circuit. One of my favorites lots of up and down hill, bit like Oulton. Under threat from local housing developments so might not be there forever.

Thruxton. One to do before you hang your boots up. A real mans circuit in a quick car. Bring your extra large bks with you.

Goodwood.

Edit: It is an airfield...but the track has a lot of racing history and is great fun.

Olivers Mount

Though it is all two wheeled except for the odd hill climb I believe.

you've done 3 of the very best!

i'd add Brands and Snett for sure.
Silverstone very wide and needs horsepower to really enjoy.

Thruxton and Combe maybe have to be done, but i'd doubt you'd rate them above your locals.
in fact i prefer Bedford to those two.

I've just been working my way around the BTCC calendar, plus a few extras i'd like to do! The advice above about Brands and Snetterton I definitely agree with - both great tracks with lots of interest and technique, both require a little bit of bravery to keep that adrenaline flowing!

I would echo the recommendation for Snet. It is relatively easy on brakes, relatively wide run offs, some non constant radius corners, decent facilities.

Cheap too, £109 next Friday with Javelin. I can't wait.

Mallory Park.

You can spend all day trying out different lines for Gerrards and still not get it right! smile

It's a track that's easy to learn, but hard to master.

The OP said “no airfields”, does this mean current ones, or old ones, as most of the recommendations, Silverstone, Croft, Snetterton were airfields, as is Thruxton. I assumed he meant, no flat, featureless circuits, especially as the ones he mentions having done are all up and down park circuits. Personally, I find flat former airfield circuits quite dull and much prefer the challenge of the park circuits.

He’ll be hard pressed to beat the ones he’s doing, but I’d suggest Brands GP (not the Indy) is worth a trip, although whether the travel time, cost and track itself justify themselves to him would be interesting to know.

I loved Rockingham, did the International this time last year and then the national last weekend - such a shame to see it closed

You wouldn't think it looking at the track layout and the fact that it's flat, but Goodwood is a great circuit and one of my faves. If you go on the noisy days, they reduce the numbers on circuit so you pretty much have the track to yourself.

I do actually quite like croft... would like to do it more but its a long way north.

As others have said, youve done the best three already. Time to look further afield, to a certain current f1 track in belgium... which knocks the socks off anything in this country, or indeed the world!

Indeed although conveniently enough there is another place just accross the German border just an hour drive away from Spa that might also have a realistic chance to claim that best in the world title...

If you’re referring to the Nurburgring then you must be joking. It’s not a patch on Spa, nor is it even close to being anywhere near one of the top tracks in the world.

I'm a regular at the Ring, although next year is a hiatus to focus on UK tracks. Then 2021 will be my sub 8 attempt on a Ring trackday.

What makes Spa so much better?

The whole place is amazing. Putting aside the history, it’s the most up and down track I’ve ever been on, unbelievably fast and Eau Roughe is like nothing anywhere, it is phenomenal.

If you are considering foreign tracks then Monza, Mugello, Brno and Portimao should be on your list too. The last two are like Oulton after it overdosed on steroids. If you’re feeling really flush, get to Phillip Island too, although that’s a bit more of a challenge logistically

I can only assume you're talking about the GP track and I would agree. I was obviously referring to the Nordschleife. Big fan of Spa as I drive it most years and it's my favourite F1 track but the Nordshliefe is on another level, literally. Have you driven it?

I don’t know whether I’ve driven the Nordschliefe or not, as there’s obviously something I’m missing in there vs just saying the Nurburgring. I’ve driven round that and found it quite frustrating queuing forever, then getting one lap and queuing again. Not something I’ll be repeating. I prefer a track I can drive and learn over a couple of sessions. My comments around Spa were based on my experience and agreeing with another poster who mentioned it. I also mentioned so,Ed other European tracks that he should try if he’s feeling dventurous.
