I've seen a few videos with UK-reg'd cars on the Ring over the past few weeks. Has anyone dared to venture over?

Am I right in saying that France is still advising 14 days of quarantine for UK travellers?

Hmm you are merely passing through France so why would they insist on that? I'm due to go for the the double track day in mid July so as far as I'm concerned I will travel unless something major changes.

It was a requirement for all travellers from the UK, irrespective of whether their time in France was limited to a toilet stop at an Aire or three weeks in the Dordogne.

Was over last week, and also 3 weeks b4, no problems anywhere!!! France will not make you quarantine for 14days if your just travelling through, it’s literally 40mile until your outta France and into Belgium , which would probably be a lot less distance than an address you’d give as to where you’d be self isolating. Basically it’s all scare mongering.

Thanks for confirming Nigt, makes sense think is's even less than 40 miles into Belgium from Calais. Did you do a trackday or TF?

The main concern is the FCO advice. Check that your travel insurance still covers you for medical expenses and / or repat. Unlikely but perhaps some do despite the FCO's stand (which may change soon anyway).

This.

It's all fine and well to say "Them bloody Frogs can't force me to do nowt". If something goes wrong (god forbid it should) you might regret ignoring FCO and French Govt advice.

Not recommended from the U.K. at the moment so I imagine void most travel insurance, how ever no issues in France and Germany now.

Me too! , but only if the current 14 day quarantine requirement is dropped.

It's certainly going to be a different event event, but I'd rather go and social distance with no passenger laps than not go at all!

Hi all,

I was attending the DN day at the Ring on 8 May 2020 before it was cancelled.

I have a credit note for approx £600 for a future DN event (valid for bookings made within a year) which I dont think I will be able to use.

Wondered if anybody might be interested in buying it at discount to face value, say 20%, saving over £100 towards a future DN event.

The credit note can also be used for some third parties' events when booked for you by DN.

Drop me a line if interested.

Thanks

Very happy to compensate you for this lost opportunity

Please PM me with your details as your settings don't allow me to PM you

Once again, very sorry this hasn't worked out, you have probably missed a great event

I have just booked for the weeknd of the 16th of July. Fingers crossed there's no big second spike just yet.
Managed to get refundable dorint booking and transferable tunnel ticket. So no big loss if so.

Likewise, I'm heading over on the 15th and staying a week with some friends.

Infection rates overall are still very low in Germany by comparison with other countries so I think we should be fine. My only worry is quarantine still being in place by the time we come back. However I believe there is talk of tests being available on your return and if you test negative then you don't have to go in to quarantine but let's see!

Trying to be positive: If DN RM is on this year it probably offers the best two track days on the best track in the world with even lower numbers and likely good weather :-)

The COVID19 risk assessment is as follows I guess:

Leaving UK: No symptoms and good health: Low risk
Travelling to DE: Own car and can isolate on the ferry with PPE where req: Low risk
Staying in DE: Low risk country and hotel allows isolation; Low risk
Track activity: I would expect this to be well controlled no passengers is no problem: Low risk.
Travelling back to UK: Same as outbound: Low risk

Therefore if the return quarantine lifts which I think is likely by then it would be nice to go.

Looks like air bridges with France and Germany will be introduced or at least announced this weekend...that would rule out having to quarantine on return.

Thanks for the update. smile

Looks like the initial list of air bridge countries to be unofficially finalised tonight then confirmed Monday next week.

The FCO's advice remains global and is therefore voiding the quasi totality of travel policies. This is likely to change as it would be non sensical (and careless) to have air bridges without the FCO lifting advice against travel for the countries in question at least.
