That first Porsche pic looks fab - reminds me of Dijon Prenois - is it ? Very fond memories of doing Dijon and Magny Cours double headers with Wheeltorque back in the day Silverstone 6 by LaSource Images, on Flickr

Managed to get that shot during a track photo shoot.

My supercharged MX5, definitely not the fastest but it's a lot of fun

But definitely not the slowest either I'd guess?ET8I3038 by Opentrack Track Days, on Flickr
Great seeing such a varied array of cars.
Took my Gtv on track within the first year of buying it and think that's why I really bonded with it and still have it 10 years and 90k miles later.
No longer the daily so just waits around for track days or drives to the countryside.
Photo from end of last year at Brands.

Cool I'm helping a friend sort out a slightly crusty facelift NC that he wants to get on track, he's just going with the basics at the moment with some ok tyres and proper pads + full brake refurb. Is there much to watch out for tracking these things?
Also he did say that supercharging might be an option down the line, is it particularly difficult?
Also heres my MR2 Turbo
Nice MR2, I've always liked those! Also he did say that supercharging might be an option down the line, is it particularly difficult?

Due to it being pretty light the brakes and tyres seem to last pretty well so it's worth paying for some decent rubber such as AD08R's, Cup 2's or Avon ZZR's, and some decent brake pads. I've currently got Cup2's and some Carbon Lorraine RC5+ pads with RBF600 brake fluid, great on the road (except for standing water) and great on track. Definitely fit some coilovers and get the suspension setup properly, it makes a BIG difference, I've got Miester CRD's on mine, not too harsh on the road and pretty decent on track although it rolls just a little bit too much but it's a happy medium, some larger anti-roll bars also make a good improvement, the RX8 one's fit so can get them pretty cheap second hand.
Mine came with the BBR Cosworth supercharger already fitted, I've got a receipt for £5k plus fitting!! I wouldn't pay that myself, I'd probably look at the turbo route if it wasn't already fitted. Best to speak to some specialists, I've found Paul Roddinson and Nick at Skuzzle are both really helpful and can source and fit anything you want/need, Nick mapped mine and I'm really happy with it.
They drink a bit of oil when driven hard, just make sure it's always on the max, although I think that's more of a concern with the earlier NC1's like mine, the gearbox's are known to be a bit stiff when cold and the synchro's 'can' be a weak point but mines been fine so far with 255bhp at the wheels and spares are fairly easy to find.
Change all the fluids regularly like any other car, get some advice for the right bits, decent setup, and have fun.....lots of fun!

Cheers! At the moment I think he's going to stick with the standard billsteins, but yeah he's gone with the RX-8 rollbars. Also managed to snag a set of Hawk HP+ pads for half price which look like they should be ok on track and going with ATE Typ2000 for the fluid which is what I tend to use. I've heard good things about CL pads though, annoyingly another brand that doesn't make pads for MR2's grrr.Due to it being pretty light the brakes and tyres seem to last pretty well so it's worth paying for some decent rubber such as AD08R's, Cup 2's or Avon ZZR's, and some decent brake pads. 5 grand does seem steep for the SC kit though, especially as these cars seem to be at the bottom of their depreciacion curve. We'll see though as I think he's just going to start with some of the basic boltons these motors like for power.

I'm using CL rc6e's on my FK2 typeR (road going form; 1.4ton). only pads i've found that i haven't cooked 'em after 15min full on hot laps @ Abingdon & Donington. Definitely competition grade that'll cope with the abuse of trackdays. no idea on the rc5's but the 6e's are not for road as they'll eat your discs.are you aware CL can cut pads to any application? assuming your pad will fit inside a donor pad, then supply them a pattern and they'll cut it for you. i think they charge itr of £30, but could be wrong.
ran typ200 fluid for the last 2yrs, although this year i'll be chucking in RBF600 as it was on offer when i bought. more to compare as they both get rave reviews on track.
Here’s mine, it’s a dry sumped R300 superlight with a 180bhp Ford Duratec, lightweight flywheel, 6 speed box, AP brakes, race master cylinder, ZF LSD and fully adjustable suspension. No previous track day pictures sadly, but Cadwell, Hethel and Abingdon already booked for this year. Hopefully going to get to Brands and Oulton Park too. Can’t wait

Out of interest, which TDO did you use at Dijon ? I've not spotted anything advertised there for years....
