The vast majority of cars on a trackday will be road legal cars with a valid MOT, if you're trailering a car to track then you may as well race instead.

Maybe the majority of cars on a track day will be driven there. However a huge amount of cars are trailered to track days. My track car (bottom of page 1) is a completely stripped out car although it still has the potential to pass an MOT.The vast majority of cars on a trackday will be road legal cars with a valid MOT, if you're trailering a car to track then you may as well race instead.
I have a huge amount of fun in it on the track, but it driving it to the track would be horrible and the main problem with that is there would be nowhere to keep the two spare sets of wheels, all my tools, air compressor, 60L of fuel, etc.
Racing is very expensive, I'm probably not going to win anything and the main reason I wouldn't race is that I don't want any car to car contact leaving me with big bills that were potentially not my fault. Car to car contact on track days is rare.
So I don't agree with your statement I have highlighted in bold and know many others who feel the same.
