Do we think the travel restrictions will have been lifted by October?

I think it is likely that a negative Covid19 test will be needed before returning - €125 per person

Plus the recently announced Test Package may still be required upon return - £210 per person

https://quarantinehotelbookings.ctmportal.co.uk/

But there are two other issues to bear in mind

What happens if you test positive before returning?

You can't enter the UK without a negative test, so you wait a couple of weeks, get another test, and then the chances are you will still test positive

That's because the PCR test is very sensitive and can react to historic cases as well making it impossible to return home for some time

What happens if a country you have visited, or even transited through, is added the Red List while abroad?

Then you have the Quarantine Hotel experience to look forward to at £2,400 per couple (plus the Test Kits cost as well - I think)

I certainly hope so.

The current projection is that every adult should have had made available both vaccination doses by the end of August.

The booking can be postponed if necessary into 2022, indeed the booking I have is the postponed one from last year.

It is still 8 months away and so much can change between then and now but if you don't book it will be sold out before any certainty around travel is attained.

It is something to look forward to and if we can't go then I will postpone but at least I am giving myself the chance to go rather than the certainty of not going.

I'm rebooked on this, and rebooked on the first DN event of the year in May

I have some confidence in this event being practical to attend

I'm not so sure about the Ring in May

Travel to Germany from the UK is currently prohibited by German regulations, so even if the UK travel ban were lifted it would still be impossible

"The UK is currently designated a virus variant area, so travellers from the UK are only permitted to enter Germany if they are returning to their place of residence or if they can demonstrate an urgent humanitarian need such as an immediate family bereavement."

If it were possible the cost of Covid testing would be £125 (pre-outbound), €125 (pre-return), £210 (post return) - per person

Plus the home quarantine on return, and that all assumes nothing goes wrong

I am hoping that Vaccine passports will allow more freedom of movement without the need for testing, October is still a way off.

Good luck for May Paul, first jabs should be pretty much complete by then so let's hope an international travel scheme that recognises vaccinations can be implemented by then.
