We both know he's just being an attention-seeker, trying to push some kind of "trackdays are for elitists" agenda that even he probably doesn't fully believe.

I'm at Castle Combe tomorrow. It cost £170 for the day. I am the 0.001%. laugh

Why are you unable to accept simple factual statements? banghead
I believe he always has to be correct.

The "creeping up" is just moderate underlying inflation.

The situation this summer is an outlier.

Normal service at historically stable prices will resume next year IMO.
Since the thread originated on February 7th, sufficient evidence has surfaced to indicate your "Normal service" observation is correct, much to my relief thumbup

But the variance in prices still intrigues me: £149 Blyton Park to £725 Goodwood.

Cheaper tracks are always going to be cheaper

Circuits like Blyton Park are very inexpensive to hire..
And Cadwell and similar circuits are cheap because of their location. Have you been to Cadwell? It's miles away from anywhere abd always has been reasonably low cost due to it not being a "premium" circuit like Brands, Donnington or Silverstone. Despite it being a good track.

People saying "I got an" affordable" day at a cheap circuit " are kidding themselves. Like saying " I went to Aldi and it was cheaper than Waitrose".

Here's some "anecdotal evidence".

Track days in general are I would say 5 to 20 % more compared to 2019.

This is mostly due to Covid as the tracks shut for so long. But at the same time the TDOs are enjoying nearly every single event being sold out as everyone is so keen to get on track. I've seen days be re sold on Facebook at higher than retail prices.

Of course! And perhaps wishful thinking.

Still I remember I booked a day at Bedford for 79 quid a few years ago. Now even an evening session is 129.

Yes I've been to Cadwell on numerous occasions. We are back there on May 19th and July 22nd, with Blyton and Snetterton in between. Cadwell is a great track for low powered cars.

See you there? wavey

Do want to p**s you off too much, but we are running two cars between three drivers at these track days plus the Blyton event is a timed sprint. Possibly enter some race meetings this year as well if things come together.

With so much activity, high entry fees make a significant difference to affordability. Hence my concern.

Goodwood track day on July1st 2013 cost £200. Track day price of £725 is 262.5% increase. Inflation from 2013 to 2021 is 19.5%.

Demand must be high.
Surely the relevant comparison would be how much did Salone Events charge in 2013 and how much would Goodwood's own track day cost in 2021? Otherwise it is rather like saying when you went to Silverstone in 2013 to watch Mini racing it only cost £10 to get in. In 2021 it costs £450 to get in to watch the GP, what the hell is going on with prices!?

Good point but how would you discover how much Salone charged in 2013? Also track days are generally very similar events driving your own car so the analogy of Mini racing against F1 is not really valid.

Average cost of remaining Goodwood track days in 2021 is £513 with cheapest of £349 on Quiet Days. So rather more than rate of inflation. But as mentioned previously in this thread, track days are a business so track owners and TDOs have licence to charge as much as the market will bear to maximise profit. If you don't like that, guess what? hehe

I wish the organisers were more open on how many slots are actually available. I know it’s somewhat implied with all of them that the more you pay the less other cars will be there, but it’s hard to judge without just trying every organiser and doing some sums.

Goodwood’s own days for six sessions are £369 per car on a noisy day. Lunch for the main driver included which is not common in general days at other circuits.

IIRC all the TDO’s offering Goodwood days this year are inc food and drink. I assume this must be a condition of venue hire now.

The GRRC members price back 2010 was circa £300 for comparison.

Goldtrack slightly cheaper in the £200 - £300 range back then now obviously £350 to £550. So out of season hasn’t gone up that much whilst high season with an independent TDO has.

Salome are IIRC a super premium HNW track day operator with prices to match. However you could go next week with them for £500 or June for £10 more...

Your point is a good one picking the most expensive day at a given circuit which happens coincidently to be one of the most expensive public track days advertised at UK circuit this year seems disingenuous to the claim of haven’t track days gone up in price.
