That's brilliant! Not surprised you are excited.

Any recommendations for hotels? Would rather stay closer to the track to be in amongst it all.
Anywhere in Adenau would be my suggestion really. I pretty much always stay at Hotel an der Nordschliefe. There’s a viewpoint just the other side of the road to watch the track.
I love being in the centre as it’s great for food in the evenings

I remember my first visit in 2014, was meant to be a one off bucket list style tick the box trip...been back every yr since for two trackdays a yr!

First few visits I stayed at Hotel am Tiergarten (famous Pistenklause restaurant is there) in Nurburg, it's v close to the track and decent place for a first visit but the village itself is v quiet not much going on really. The last few years I've been staying in the general Adenau area (various places), it's a bigger town with more restaurant options etc.

There's a great vibe about the whole place and no amount of YouTube vids or laps on the PlayStation will prepare you for the sheer scale of the track.

This is what did it for me, I’ve never felt anything like it, it drips motorsport.

Thanks all for the accommodation advice. Looks like we will go for Adenau.

Next problem is getting a car sorted as I sold the Megane RS a few months back and still don’t have a replacement laugh

It does and the other aspect for me is how friendly people are with each other and irrespective of cars, I don't see any snobbery, nor reverse snobbery (which I find as bad). Can't wait as I am definitely back this year.

Anyone have any advice for trackday insurance at the 'Ring? I used to use Mannings for GT3, who were very good and would provide cover, by the day, on the Nordschleife, but had to renew with another insurer who don't offer this service and it seems Morris will cover the car but not 3rd party, e.g. barriers etc.

I don't know any UK Company that will provide 3rd party cover. Moris will cover your own car and you can buy barrier cover separately if that helps for a closed trackday?

True, no one covers third party on TF and there should be no liability on a track day, apart from barrier, which can be covered.

Memory may be incorrect, but I thought the previous cover with Mannings did used to cover that too.

As you say, unless it's a huge off, the barrier cost is manageable.

Many of the non-uk run trackdays stipulate in their small print that you are liable for any 3rd party damage you cause so beware on some days if you have rushed to sign the paperwork without reading it. As you can be held liable if that gt2 crashes due to your vehicle or yourself instigating the gt2’s loss.

Just booked our
Eurotunnel and accommodation for April. It's on a TF but it's that or nothing really. Last time I went in April it snowed so hoping for better weather this time..

Good to know. Thx.

Circuit Days 1st July for me and my old man.

Plenty of time to decide which cars to take......

I've never done a proper trackday at the ring but I have done a few TF trips. Any advice welcomed.

Enjoy, savor and remember the experience. A track day is just so, so much better than TF.

Enjoy the sighting laps (it's great looking at the scenery at a slow pace)
Make sure you keep yourself fed and watered.

I got pulled by the Plod on my way to go and get fuel for ED, as i'd forgotten that i'd taken my number plates off. 80 euros in their back pocket made that issue go away though.

Seems like there's quite a few of us going to the Circuit Days event on 01/07. Should be a good one!

I would say as others have said to just enjoy it and pace yourself throughout the day.

There is the temptation to say to yourself, I'm paying X amount for a track day and this is the equivalent value of this many TF laps, therefore I have to get in this many laps to justify the entry fee over TF. But it's about quality not quantity. if you can get 10 amazing laps in then it's been good value.

Just take it easy and familiarize yourself with the track and keep a good regular check on your mirrors. In tourist driving sessions as well as trackdays if conditions and traffic permit, the pace that the really quick guys can get around can drop into sub 7 territory. So do not think about chasing lap times but enjoy it as a very special place that in this day and age would be outlawed anywhere else.
Make sure you understand the rules of the track and please respect the rules of the road also.
It’s a petrol heads nirvana, enjoy and go home happy.

The sighting laps are as you say a great opportunity to look at the track and conditions prior to going green.
I often lead the sighting laps and even after almost 25 years of going around the track it’s still a worthwhile excercise.
