Yes remember that pile up a horrific incident...the same chap subsequently got a GT2RS and the vid I mentioned came out a couple of years later...didn't learn his lesson it would appear.
The GT3 driver, Vittel is the same who races in VLN/NLS... check his other videos.

I recall some of his videos, and that he's an absolute knobhead.

I've no doubt he's a v good driver but still doesn't excuse driving so aggressively on TF and even worse not to have learnt any lessons from a previous incident!

Quite agree regarding driving on TF. It is give and take between fast and slow drivers, the overtaker and those being passed. Taking too much is simply being greedy, inconsiderate. Sometimes it's good to give the slower car the luxury experience. It's always good to (try to) be nice.

Absolutely...have never driven TF myself always done trackdays...even on those days there are a small handful of impatient idiots who want u out of the way immediately (flashing lights etc) through sections where going offline at a reasonable pace is tricky. It's also discourteous as we've all paid the same to be there so some mutual respect wouldn't go amiss. Again certainly a minority but it does happen.

Agreed. I've also seen pillocks crowding other cars and even overtaking on sighting laps. Usually shared/rental cars, I have to say.

I have also had the pleasure of being passed, with such pace and skill, by faster cars, that it required the absolute bare minimum of stress or effort on my part.

Yep I try to keep my eyes on the mirrors and when something very quick is coming up I try to make it clear I've already seen them and make the pass for them as easy as possible...tbh its fun having something special with a V12 or V10 blast past. Flip side when I catch up on something slower I'll give them plenty of room and not crowd or pressure them. Works both ways.

Isn't this more of a cultural way of warning of a substantial closing speed for safety's sake on the continent rather than an expression of impatience?

(it could be both I guess!)

FWIW I don't mind the lights thing. It can be quite dark and also, as much as you keep an eye on mirrors, you are focused forward, so it's a practical thing. Just as long as the car isn't positioned 2" behind your bumper, or pushing for the inside line under braking.

Hmm I can see the practical reasons for flashing if approaching at speed but I've had this with some guy a few inches off my bumper!

That's silly indeed, I think it's only useful when closing in but still being at quite a distance as a friendly pre-warning of imminent arrival on the scene laugh.

Followed by the final pre-warning of tyre smoke and squeal.

Coming in hot!

Hello all, I'm breaking my ring virginity next weekend. Bit of a last minute decision but had some time and thought i'd get involved.

Staying at the Blaue Ecke Fri/Sat - will probably only drive on the Saturday, not a hardcore track driver so my loose plan is a couple of sighting laps followed by a couple of slightly more committed ones then spend the rest of the day soaking up the ring and its surroundings.

How did you get on? I was there 27/28th August and only got a few clear laps in as the rest of the time there were 'offs' being dealt with. Loads of much faster cars flashing and dominating the track. Some nutters and tose tht seemed a little ignorant of the procedure. Like the English car I went past and then decided to overtake me when I slowed for the flashing orange lights.

Saturday was sadly closed all day due to fog.

Looking at this as a possibility as have a few days off from 21st September for some hobby time away from family duties!
it’s this or Wales for some mountain biking, I’ve done that lots though.

Never done a Euro trip. Got a very high miles R32 Golf that I want to take.

Anyone around already heading over?

FYI and FWIW you can also ride mtb around the Nordschleife. Cake and eat it.

Le shuttle coming in at £240! Seems a bit much, guessing I need to book in advance rather than getting all excited and doing it a week before!
Shakedown on the Golf tomorrow and try and swap out the door module so I can lock it and use the window.

May end up postponing until I can tag along with some more people if not!

Re the mtb, actual trails or just riding around the view points?
