If you've always wanted to drive your own car on a real race circuit but didn't know where to start, MotorSportVision is offering a track day (afternoon) for novices.

Where: Brands Hatch

When: 25 August, 1-5pm.

Price: £99

The day is designed for those who have yet to experience the thrill of being on a race circuit and will include:

  • Free helmet hire (normally £10)
  • A thorough briefing on vehicle preparation, track etiquette and racing lines.
  • Brake boards and cones around the circuit to help master the track effectively
  • Additional briefings and a Q and A session after your first 20 minutes out on track.
  • Limited to a maximum of 20 cars on circuit (Normally 36).
  • Experienced instructors on hand throughout the day, offering advice and in-car tuition.

You don’t need a special car to take part. Almost any car can hold its own around a racetrack with no modification at all and after an afternoon on the track, MSV reckoned you will be back for more.

I just hope that if you do sign up for this that it isn`t as hugely overbooked as the one I booked for the wife recently. Far too many cars, not all of which were beginners or even novices, meant huge waiting time to get on circuit and then short sessions, just 2 or 3 laps at time, when you did get out. What looked like a good deal was in fact very poor when actual track time was assessed.
