OP you are an absolute LAD for having the stones/skillz to carry that much apex speed in a diesel A4

....Is that the validation you're looking for?

On one trackday I was on there was a guy who drove round just like the OP.

He hung all over the arse of a red Supra but could not pass him as the Supra was too fast on the straights.

I was chatting to the Supra guy after one session, and the aggressive driver came marching over, all pumped up, looking for a fight. Gave the Supra driver a mouthful about being slow in the corners but fast on the straights and should have let him through/st driver etc etc (super aggresive - thought there was going to be an assault).

The Supra driver was paralysed from the waist down from a bike crash at Donnington and was driving with hand controls......

And the best bit? Did he say "but my legs don't work and I'm driving with hand controls"? Nope. He stayed sat in his car and calmly answered that it wasn't his problem if the guy could not overtake him.

The knobhead stropped off none the wiser. I do hope someone told him, but I wasn't going to as the Supra guy clearly didn't want to use it as a bail-out.

They both sound like idiots to be honest.

To be fair, that’s really irritating…

This. Not sure why its so hard to understand if someone catches you, they're faster (and every chance they cant pass because of 'overtaking on straights' only rule.

Happens all the time, but TBF to drivers if the briefing by the TDO does not cover the scenario then they may be none the wiser.

Being a good overtakee is an art in and of itself. Done correctly and considerately, it can cause barely any interruption to yours or the overtaking car's lap. However, there has to be some letup. If there's not, you can only really overtake mid bend or under braking, and that's not allowed.

If anyone is reading this thread: if you repeatedly see a car in your mirrors for a lap and only manage to gap them on the straight, you are very probably slower than them. If you have a car with more power or that is, on paper, quicker than the one following, you are definitely slower.

They'd only be none the wiser if they're a bit thick! tongue out

...but yes, I agree with everything you say. It's better not to get wound up - take a run through the pits or something.

it would seem some people's lack of self-awareness is matched only by their car's lack of functioning side mirrors.

Cool story, but the supra guy is totally in the wrong, and the hand controls are irrelevant.
Doesn't give make the other guy any less of a tw*t for being aggressive, but *that* doesn't make the supra guy any more right either.

Sigh, it was mostly about agrressive track day drivers, and one amusingly being caught out picking on a disabled driver, but, I'll bow out and leave you to squabble amongst yourselves.

I take it this story pertains to the other track day thread?

I think the TDO were incredibly generous with you Op, I’d have expected to see you back flagged straight after that overtake on the fastest corner up the hill. Not on.

Lucky to say I’ve not experienced this kind of behaviour, it’s usually race cars using it as a cheap test day that spoils my days. But glad to know the spirit of the GTR driver warming his kebab lives on.

Yeah, and they usually have a problem with straight line heros gunning it up straights....

How was he ‘amusingly caught out’??? You said yourself he wandered off still not even knowing that the driver was disabled.

Also, we’re not squabbling, we all think think the Supra driver was in the wrong. wink
