Existing cylinder fed by heat only boiler

I want to get an immersion element fitted plus the electrics to heat the water instead of using boiler

Extension works start soon and boiler will need moving, ideally we can survive for a few weeks with the woodburner for cold nights and hot water from immersion/cylinder then don't have to move boiler twice

Been chasing a local plumber for weeks for a price

Any ball park price would be appreciated

Does it have a blanked boss for an immersion? If not you'll need a new cylinder

Sounds like the work is mostly electrical. Would you not be better off with an electrician?

I had a weird buzzing noise coming from my cylinder earlier this year. As part of this we suspected it could have been the immersion so replaced it.

To replace the immersion cost me £140. Hour's labour + parts (this is inside the M25).

Wiring was all in place though already. How far is the cylinder from the consumer unit? That'd have the biggest impact on the cost I think.

Thanks all

Yes the electrical bit is more of the painful part of the job

We've easy access to the consumer unit for the power and the cylinder is good to go

Just gonna have to hound the plumber(who is chasing his sparky mate for his price)
