I've have similar with Footman James, renewed last summer. Underwriter has been Aviva for some time.

I had the exact same issue (and explanation) for my Caterham R500 insurance with 5x trackdays.

They offered an alternative that was significantly more expensive and didnt include trackdays which was useless.

I ended up with REIS motorsport for similar money to previous year including 6x UK/European trackdays and agreed value. Higher on track excess though at 10% of car value was the only downside. A plan was just £1k over normal 'on road' excess or £500 more if you could prove track experience.

Why? I had a claim with them and had no problems

I had a claim with them and they were utterly awful. Could not have been less helpful. Other driver (Lorry driver) admitted liability straight away and it still took weeks of chasing to get anywhere. Then when I transferred the policy to another car they messed that up and left me driving without insurance for a week. I'd avoid them like the plague.

My renewal with A Plan/Marker Study was due on 4th. Had a phone call on 2nd to say they can now offer cover with trackdays again for renewals (not new business).
Maybe there's hope for the future as other policies I was getting were significantly higher in terms of track excess.

They tripled the cost of my insurance to £1000; so that was the end of my run with A-plan, Off to B-plan it was.
