Question, does anyone know of any tracks with onsite EV charging, to take part in track days? I can only find Silverstone at the moment.
Don't worry, I am petrol head, but I have a Model 3 Performance as well. I just wanna find a track to see how good or bad it is. After seeing the video of the model 3 and the new GT3 RS do an almost identical lap time, I think it will do alright. I just need to find tracks with chargers or superchargers right near the entrance of the track.

If anyone is wanting to know what video - Type in "World’s Fastest Tesla vs GT3RS" into YouTube on the channel "Donut". I can't post links or pics as I'm new and I have to wait 14 days apparently.

I know the dangers of Lithium Ion batteries, but I am somewhat of an ex racing driver and used to be on the same karting team as Alex Albon and the Vanderpumps - I still never understood how he dominated every race. I assumed his kart had a larger carburettor haha, used to share hotel rooms with him when I was younger when we travelled the country to races. However, I am not immune to crashes and I get that its not even always me, it could be someone else causing the crash.

Small story in case I have any fellow Karters from 2008 - 2011-2012. I was based at PFI with Mick Barratt Racing, as its about 8 miles from my house and I was there when Hamilton did his visit.

Anyone on here karting in 2009ish will remember Albon in KF2's and the Vanderpump brothers. Albon was younger than me... I was the newbie, without any experience who was new and although I dominate all turn up and go karts without fail (I was never gunna be anywhere near the boys who had been doing it since they were 8 - 10 years old, I was st compared to Albon and the Vanderpumps, I did get better, with training from Mick Barrett and his son over the years to around mid pack. I had the natural ability in a car and kart even at 14 (Illegally, taking my Dads Vantage out at aged 14 to show my mate how to drift, but I was never gunna be anything special.

My small claim to fame is a YouTube video of someone saying its impossible to drift a front wheel drive around roundabouts... I then proceeded to do a video of me doing about 6 laps around a roundabout sideways, plant it in first gear, pull the hand brake to let it swing out and do not let off the throttle.

Apologies, if you simply do not give a st, but I thought I would do it for anyone that is remotely interested. Albon - if you read this, you know who I am wink (I know he wont be reading this)

But yeah, chargers on site at race tracks?
Um.

OK.

Fair enough. Nice to finally have it actually confirmed.

Good points made with there being no onsite charging and a fire station being 20 minutes away, not sure why you'd want to take a hybrid or full EV to Anglesey anyway.

Well I certainly wouldn't want to take my stbox crappy EV round, it's a shopping car which is it's main purpose and at which it excels. Even if I could get it there after a few laps the motor or batteries would probably overheat and it go into limp mode, or they'd be flattened to such an extent getting to the nearest charge point might be difficult.

I have a Caterham for tracks.

Horses for courses.

Yes. But I can’t tell you, we don’t need more EVs getting in the way wink

There is a hotel on the perimeter of Brands with chargers, I've topped up my EV there in the past, but it's very likely that more tracks will have fast chargers on site, if only to service people driving to the track in EV's.

Goodwood has fast chargers on site although they are mainly there for the Estate EV vehicles (they have some Taycans I believe.)

400lb lighter, fully aero, cooling upgrades and racing slicks and the stock RS still won. Don't think the road going M3P will be any good at all. In fact I'm certain it'll be dog s**t.

That Tesla is stripped out on slicks with full aero so not a fair example imo, I wonder how many laps it could do at full bore before going into power saving due to temps?

Not sure there were any/many EVs when I first started going to Anglesey...but there were plenty of plastic-bodied cars that could have gone up in flames at any time wink

But there was usually one or two vehicles that didn't 'fit in'!

Wow that takes me back. Bookatrack trackdays at the old Anglesey were superb.

Really used to love the blind line up Hill Rise and across Radar...which was spoilt when the new circuit came along...although that added some of it's own interesting bits.

Yes agreed. The whole School - Abbots - Radar section was superb. Many a Mars bar moment through there.

Its not about what catches fire easily

yes it happens to electric and ice but when it happens to EV the fire is not easy to put out.

Another point is that all street furniture and crash barriers have not been tested to take the weight and shape of EVs

It's not the shape of an EV either! (whatever that means)

Thruxton had some installed, open to the public (on circuit website), & may have more near the paddocks. They had about 3 Teslas on track last year during a trackday. First time I'd seen any EV on track.

Contact the circuit, or trackday company like Motorsport Events who hold trackdays there to find out latest allowances.

The Brands Hatch Spa literally at the entrance has a 50kW charger and there are more about 5 miles away in Orpington, including Tesla Superchargers.
