Anyone got a decent quality video of a lap of the Nurburgring - Nordschleife that I could download or even buy.

As I don't own a PS2 learning the track on GT4 isn't an option, so I was thinking this would be the next best option.

Does anyone have a video that shows the name of each corner on approach or whatever?

I know there are maps available, but it would be nice to see the corner while also seeing it's name. I have the 'cossiekiller' (think that's it's name, a fast Impreza lap) that shows some names, but not all.

Cheers, Greg.

Buy/rent/borrow/steal a PS2 and borrow/rent/buy/steal GT4; the experience of driving the 'ring (even with the little analogue controller) is awesome. You must have some mates with a PS2!? It really is the best way to see this track in action, the data of the track is supposed to be accurate to the inch.

Alternatively, look for "Sabine Schmidt" videos/DVDs - she pilots the 'ring Taxi (an M5) and even gave our Jezza a quick lap.

Seriously, though if you want to do the 'ring quickly when you actually get there, try the PS2 first (do it in a stock 2005 Golf GTI, then progress up to Elise and then BMW M3). The driving styles are very different and they all suit the 'ring. For fun, try it in the 2005 Mustang GT.

if you fancy a laugh take a look at ....
www.ringmini.de/English_Version/-Videos-/-videos-.html

its a mini van with a honda engine in, and he knows the circuit well, gives a lot of bigger cars a run for their money!
if you fancy something different have a look at their gixxerkart video......it looks so much fun!

I found that playing GT4 didnt help me out much at all at the 'ring.
I also found the real experience so completly different due to all the gradients, the game just doesn't replicate them enough.
Dont get me wrong though, Im a massive fan of the game. Its just that when there is a hill in front of you at the ring and you can't see whats after it you can't press on in case there is a sharp corner!

With lots of pratice you would soon know when it was safe to hammer it over the hills.

There was also road works about half way round in early Sept. Never seen that on the game!

If you do play the game then the toll gates (start/finish) are about half way down the main long straight.

I get sound but no visual when I launch this using Media Player. Anyone any explanation?

I had the same problem initially - my windows media player couldn't handle avi files. Solution was to download free DivX codec from the DivX site, check google for the address. Then try playing. If still no joy then right click the link and use the save as feature. If you've already downloaded it once(you've got the sound) then you may need to save as another unique file name or delete the old file.

Let me know how you get on.

That's an interesting lap! Pretty fast considering the conditions, but he has very busy hands and manages to go in to corners on opposite lock!

I've just taken delivery of one of these:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NURBURGRING-on-track-BUY-IT-NOW-POST-FREE_W0QQitemZ8006367832QQcategoryZ9885QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Have to say it is fantastic. Talks you through the circuit with turn in points and braking points. Well worth the money, I paid £6 for mine by making them offer rather than accepting the Buy-it-now price.

Steve.

Go to this site:
www.green-flag.com/pages/welcome.php?id=nurburgring&id2=videomenu
and download lap 1.

Oh, and agree with the posts about PS2/GT4 - as long as you don't assume it'll teach you everything about the track (camber, bumps etc), it'll really help you learn roughly where the track goes. (Helped me lots)

Cheers
