Hi Guys, First time at Donnington on saturday. We were driving the Scoob WRX sports wagon (black). really enjoyed the day!! the weather was great. We put ourselves in the beginner group as it was our first time at the track.
Just a note on the 182 driver... he was quite aggressive and even after being black flagged on the final session he continued to drive!! As for the blue mini driver... OMG!! get out the way dufus!! lol
Does anyone know any good sites to view and purchase racing cars? I ahve driven a Vauxhall Louts 2.0 before and would love to get my hands on one.
I was the driver of the blue Mini, it's only a 1.3iJust a note on the 182 driver... he was quite aggressive and even after being black flagged on the final session he continued to drive!! As for the blue mini driver... OMG!! get out the way dufus!! lol

I was there too, Red Civic Type-R. Had a bloody fantastic day, but bit disappointed with the car, the brakes were crap, started fading on the first lap of the day! They reached their 'level' and we just got used to it until the last lap of the day when I got to Redgate, braked and nothing happened! I'd boiled the fluid I think as when it'd cooled down they were fine again although I think I'll be changing the fluid for DOT5 instead for next time. Sorry for those of you behind me who got delayed!
Some drivers were great, others were tossers. The amount of people who never checked their mirrors, or overtook when there was no room on a corner was unbelievable. Some idiot in a J reg Silver Escort overtook me on the inside when I had the racing line, then cut up an Elise. Nearly wiped us both out within 2 seconds!

I took my Mini because I was having coaching in it ready for racing there, I have a few other toys inc a Porsche 997 Carrera 4S a 964 carrera 4, audi quattro and a Classic Lambretta TV. I did often wish I had more power but all I can say is I love tracking the Mini and I'm not scared to crash it.

Fair play to you mate, I thought you were going pretty well myself. Is yours the one that's been in MiniMag?It was in a magazine but not featured, it was just in there as part of something else but I can't even remember what it was, I was asked to put my Lambretta in a magazine but I can't be bothered with a load of people judging it. What was you in and what group? I was in the novice because I had eugene o brien coaching me and it was only a low powered car. .

I find this worrying... doing my first track day at Donny on 30th May. I had heard that the staff there are really keen on people sticking to the rules (overtaking on corners, or on the right?) Is this not the case? yes they keep a good eye, they have cctv all round the track, but there can always be a couple of knobs to spoil it for everyone else. they did pull 2 of the 3 groups into the briefing room for a bo**cking, things got much better after that.
just go & enjoy the day, if someone is too cloce just let them go & have an accident on there own

Was this one of Donington's own 'Trackzone' days (AKA 'Deathzone' ) ?
Allegedly they did not have a good reputation for spotting idiots or doing much about them.
Without feeling like a 'snitch' you should always report dangerous behavior to the TDO;
it is then encumberent on the TDO to take appropriate action.
If they do not, the TDO may be held responsible for the consequences of further transgressions
by the 'idiot'.

There was another blue Mini just like yours in MiniMag a few months ago with the 'Pukka Pies' stickers on. Loved the fact you were giving it ten tenths. I want to take my Mini on a track day, think Donnington's perfect for it. Either that, or another track with more corners than straights, it runs out of puff at 80!I was in the novice group too, Red Civic Type-R.

I remember your civic now, it goes well or at least you make it go well.
Take your mini on track because it's great fun. Just set it up for it ie castor camber etc and it will stick like glue to the track. Can you upload a pic of this mini by any chance?
PS Cadwell and Oulton are good mini tracks. I'm at Cadwell on June 10th and Oulton twice in July and I'm racing there in August.
Well I've found the picture, and I must be going mad! It's very similar, but no Pukka Pies stickers. I must be losing the plot!!
