'Leisurely' trackdays?

Does anybody organise a trackday on a slower basis? My car is not really suited to a 'balls' out day, but I would like to drive it faster than on a public road. Being an auto does not help either. I dont want to get in the way of trackday specialists, just a bit of a blag with like-minded others for an hour or so. If I enjoy this, it may lead to doing trackdays proper.

All drivers on track days should be driving at their own pace - as long as you courteously check your mirrors and let others pass on the straights you shouldn't have a problem in the "beginners" session. If you're not convinced, then many organisers will let you turn up to spectate, and for a small fee be a passenger so you can see for yourself.

Hey tabs, get yourself out there, listen to the rules and pay attention to your mirrors to let people past when on the straights and you will have a great time. Make sure you let them know you are a beginner and go for one that runs in sessions format.

I don't know where abouts you are in the country but the 'track session' I'm doing on monday would be right up your street
The DPRAC organise a 'track evening' once a year for it's members, it's free, but it's no balls out track day, it's split into 2 groups, cars and bikes, and the cars have to go around behind the Jag Fire tender pace car, but if you go out at the back of the pack you can work your way up to the front as overtaking is allowed

max power head on/all track days are too slow i can beat f1 cars in my 1 litre saxo,max power head off.
the fact is if you go to any properly run sessioned day you will have a great time.
i tend to go in the intermediate session as i drive a quick car slowly ie sideways,if i go in the regulars session i have to drive like a grown up,lots faster but less fun.
do some track time its great,or do an airfield day it will be cheaper ad more run off if you get to excited

The guys are mainly right.
You can start at whatever level you feel comfortable with. A properly run track day should allow you to take your time and build up the speed and confidence sensibly.

I strongly suggest taking some instruction though as you will move on much swifter and use all the right techniques to make you quick and safe sooner...
But then I would say that as I am an ARDS instructor! :-)

RMA at Bedford had a 50 minute session at the start of the day, 50-60mph speed limit , no helmets. As a seasoned trackdayer I thought this was brilliant and wish more organizers would do this for those a)new to traack days and/or b) unfamiliar with the track.

Yep don't worry, last week at Hethel there was a 2cv all be it a racing one but it was still darn slow. The instructors went round in Astra Diesel estates! & soon showed us that the fastest way round was the not in the fastest cars but in the lines you took.

Just keep an eye on your mirrors & most will wave on the way past as thanks, we are all out for fun at the end of the day.

What if you have a REALLY slow car that no amount of tuition could make up for???

Car in question is a 55bhp smart. Even then im not sure if all the ponies are prancing!
