I'm just about to do a car handling training day at Bruntingthorpe with my 968 and wondered how much damage there's likely to be from the stones to the bodywork? I imaging that it will be infront of and behind the rear tyre area. This is a sideways handling day so there's going to be lots of wheel spin (hopefully) but there'll only be 1 car on track at a time so i don't think there'll be any front damage?

Is there and easy way to tape up these areas to protect them or anything that i can get hold of that should do the job.

There are only 2 ways that you'll get stone damage to your bodywork on a track day. If you put it into the kitty litter, or is somebody else does, and drags stones back onto the track.

If you put your car in the kitty litter, count yourself lucky that you didn't wrap it round the Armco and just pay for the touch up.

If somebody else drags stones onto the circuit, just make sure that you hang back from the guy in front so that you don't catch anything he throws up. As you'll be on your own, this isn't going to be an issue.

I've never had any problems with getting stone chips on a track day. You're generally more likely to suffer from them on the road going too and from the circuit.

from personal experience of same course same place just 2 weeks ago, don't think there's a problem. if you are really uptight about it, theres some gloop from incero that paints on and peels off afterwards, or for cheap solution you can try masking tape, preferably on a dirty car.

There was a serious amount of stone chip damage on a track day at Bruntingthorpe earlier this year, I'm sure someone will pull up the thread for you. Seem to remember some chaps brand new T350c and a load of Porsches and Cerberas all suffering? Rich...
