Strange how charlie is having probs with his brakes, the stock tt brakes are excellent from what i have heard.

I'll be there with couple of mates. Blue 968 CS and red dutch Golf Gti - slow but fun, especially if wet.

What are you driving Adam?

Well the breaks stood up to the wet no problem - but had to nurse a rather poorly sounding front wheel bearing home - must have been all that sideways action The 996 TT is a truly amazing all weather supercar I have to say I was deeply impressed by the performance in all that standing water!

It was a great day! Nice to see Martin again, you were flying along...without psm i hear?
Charlie were you in the black turbo? Sorry i didnt come over and say hi, wasnt too sure

A bit wet but a lot of fun regardless!

Yep I was in the black Turbo - surely it was a pre-requisite to have the PSM off?! amazing how sideways you can get those things even with the 4wd, I haven't had so much fun with my clothes on in ages!! Quite looking forward to another wet trackday soon and to think how scared I used to be of wet tracks in the 360!

Definitely an excellent day! It was good to see a few old faces and meet a few new ones (Charlie + brother and SFV). That is one very special car you have there Adam, beautifully finished inside and out.

Charlie - I hope your wheel bearing noise turns out to be minor.

Have to agree about the performance of the 996 Turbo in horrendous conditions, it was peerless. I played around with the PSM both on and off, with it on the car is just about idiot proof, you’d have to really try to throw it off the track, and with it off it is still very controllable and great fun. Aquaplaning at 100mph+ on the main straight was quite an experience though – first time I’ve ever seen people spin off on the straight at Bedford!

I have some short bits of in-car video that may (or may not!) be of interest to the drivers involved. Adam getting a bit sideways in the Ruf and Charlie’s brother having a moment at the end of the straight in the Noble. I also have some following you Charlie but nothing interesting happened. Unfortunately I am stuck with an ISDN connection out here in the sticks so the quality will have to suffer if I email anything.

Ye - that was tremendous fun! I've been aching to do a wet trackday for months but the weather has just been too good recently. Saturday was just perfect - bucketing down all day.

Loads and loads of cars spun in relative safety which was great as the marshalls were totally happy with people losing it - unusual. There was a blue TVR which I passed spun at least four times during the day - very funny

Only damage I saw occur was to someone elses blue 968 which spun at high speed on entry to start/finish straight. The standing water ripped the side skirts off the car. I spoke to the driver and he said a chum had told him you could take the last corner flat - he did and the spin was the result

I was driving a red Golf which we had a datalogger fitted to it. Looking at the results today I was lapping at 3.30 when slowing for the standing water on the back straight. In the afternoon I kept the pedal planted through the water, said a little prayer, and lap time dropped to 3.25.

Also did number of laps in my 968 - excellent fun playing around with oversteer on exit of number of corners. All in all, a very nice end to the trackday season.

Met Martin briefly at the end of the day, but managed to avoid all other PH'ers somehow or other

Ahh - were you in the Silver 996 - that I then let past? (Mind with the amount of spray the noble kicks up it's difficult to see anything at all behind me! I might be interested to see that little clip - I have miles of video of incar footage which is all pretty boring really - I need to go through it an cut out the boring bits. - I think I need to get one of those bullit cams things to stick on the outside.

Yep nice to see everyone having a good day even in the miserable conditions, Adam the turbo R looks stunning - think I'll have to have words with Santa Claus! Nice to have met you too Martin, I'm thinking about joining RMA next year so may well get together at a few more - unfortunately the cars back at the dealership today and they suspect that a front wheel bearing may be on the way out!

Yes, that was me. If you email your email address to me I'll send you a low res version and then if you think it's worth it I can post a CD. Don't expect too much though I was not very close.

Charlie - I'd highly recommend joining the RMA, it's £150 and you get £50 off each event so it's easy to get your money back.

In the Golf in the dry my best time was 3.12 so lost 13/15 seconds per lap in the wet.

PSM was left on for most of the time, because basically our rear tires were slicks and broke away too quickly for my liking, coupled with no experience in the wet with a RUF car, was pretty scary . and i felt psm let you have some fun before it cut in, it was good practice to stop the slide before it cut in, by using the old corrective lock.

Martin, could you email me the video of you following us (not for very long, i think you overtook us a few times )

That would be really great,

Charlie, if you need any advice regarding RUF you know who to ask

I guess your Golf is not as heavily modified as Maurice Reeves' then Euan, he managed 2:38 on the first Howfast day in his Mk1 GTI but I think the only original bit was the badge! It had a 1.8 Turbo engine, no interior and was running on slicks. Great fun to watch as it passed everything else though
