Just back from a couple days at Spa with lads and Evo's

think mate did 2.38 with some hold up's
That would be a remarkable time, got any video? Most Evo's I've ever seen at Spa struggle to trouble the 3-minute barrier.

Racers say: any second under 3 mins is hugely fast at Spa. I can't believe any Evo to crack 2:38.

Gulp! and that's well over 500 brake in a 80o kgs shell. With a very very capable driver.

I've seen the 2.38 video...he had traffic as well smile

...but, as Gary suggests it was not a standard Evo...sequential shift, lots of mechanical sounds....basically an Evo cup car...

Was at a trackday on 7th April and managed a 2.44s in a 2009 Caterham R500 on Avon ZZS.(so not a dry tyre) - not bad for a car that tops out at 132mph on the straight. Reckon on a ZZR or AO48 I'd be low 2:40s.

By contrast I've managed 2:50s in a standard 997.1 GT3 (Michelin Super Sports), 2:53s in my standard 996.1 GT3 (p zeros) and 2:56s in a Cayman R (contis with 500 miles on the clock!)

Epic circuit and anything sub 3 mins is fast IMO

Lots of time lost in that lap, I'm sure that Evo could get close to a 2:30.

That's way far from any street car... 150 entering ER #gulp

Balls of brass. Kudos. I was surprised to see him take Bus Stop 'slow' > Traction can't be a problem on an Evo?

That's what I thought, although the exit was down to about 100.

I enter about 110/120 but only drop 10 or so by the time of exit.

But as you say big balls and a wonderfull machine with good driving . I reckon he could go at least 10 secs quicker on a clear lap.

yeah we got a bit to learn but loved the visit, phils been round before in a more std evo so this was a little different.

we were nurseing a issue with water temps for both days so could do many laps.

also he was slow at end as the marshals were waving black flag for oil catch tank leak.

Is this the blue one I saw at spa on the javelin days? It looked immensely quick eek, great to see the on board having seen it from another car point of view on the day.

This was my first time there in a hired megane 265, I managed to go from a 3:29 (first ever lap, first time in the car) to a 3:17 towards the end, this was with a bit of traffic (ie letting off to let a couple of GT3s past). I think I could've got maybe 3:05 without much effort on a clear track.

Looking at the footage on here though, I can't imagine not breaking going into ER, this is where I gained most of my time throughout the day (braking later, onto power sooner) but I was still braking at the bottom of the hill before ER, I couldn't imagine the balls to go flat through there boxedin

Either way, this is instantly one of my favorite tracks, can't wait to go back!

I went to Spa for the first time today.

Managed 2:55 in my E92 M3 on Cup 2s with a virtual best in Harry's lap timer of 2:54.

I was pretty happy with that. I can't wait to do another day there!

It's a fast lap even on slicks considering the hold ups, I presume the slick and tyre combo is to help balance the car up and help it turn in ?

Lap record was broke last year in a caterham on road tyres at 2:36.895 in the Ardennes Challenge

Finally uploaded a video - lap starts around 1:38

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYzqbBngliU

Still turning in too early for Eau Rouge and taking it easy through Blanchimont - as the day went on, I found myself using the run off there a few times and decided taking it a little bit easier there and taking the car home in one piece was far more favourable biggrin

Happy to take constructive criticism if anyone has any pointers for me to take with me on my next visit!

I like it Mike, you have an easy 3-4 secs gain there next time you go.

Min speed ER needs to be 90-95 instead of 79 and early on power will gain you 1 sec up the Kemmel, a bit at Pouhon and B2 and youll be flying even more. Hard to tell the G forces but feels a bit like you coast occasionally

Yeah, that was probably one of my worst attempts at ER, which might explain my Virtual Best being a second quicker.

As for G-forces - they might be a little skewed because the phone was flying around inside my armrest, but here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oJm7caLdXc
