Part-timer and bank holidays

So i job share and do 2 full days a week. Those days are monday and tuesday.

I am entitled to 11.2 days a year holiday which is rounded up to 12 days. However i have to take 9 of those days holiday on the bank holidays leaving me with just 3 days a year to take when i wish.

Whilst i believe this to be legal it does seem rather unfair i am forced to take my holidays.

Has anyone any experiance of a situation like this?

the part timers who don't work Mondays in my practice have the same complaint

it is their decision as to which days they decide to work...

surely they would only complain if the other staff recieved the same holiday entitlement PLUS the 8 bank holidays? Unless thats of course what you do in which case can i have a job?!

It is legal unfortunately. An employer is entitled to specify which days you have of holiday each year, and if they choose to close on bank holidays, then those would be included if you would normally have worked those days. If you don't normally work those days, then obviously you wouldn't be paid for them.
