Absolutely hate my job, pay doesn't near reflect the work we do, hours are terrible and I'm yet to find a company who cares about its employee's less. The company is McDonald's and I could probably hit the character limit for this post on why they are awful if I really wanted to, hopefully I'll be gone by this time next year though smile

Yeah I enjoy my work although my boss is a fool and sex pest; always groping my crotch and playing with my manhood, even while I'm in meetings and stuff. Gets some odd looks from clients, I can tell you.

One of the perils of being self employed I guess.

I love my job, the only issue is money but there are good opportunities for progression so we'll see what the next few years hold.

I used to do a job I loved, with some great people. The money was ste and the hours sucked balls. I now do a job I hate, with a bunch of knobends. The money is good and I get loads of time off. That's life I guess.

Anyone need a Car Sales Manager in the south East?
I haven't got one, I think it'd be fun. I'll open the bidding at twenty British Pounds.

Love it.

One of three directors in a design consultancy. Lots of public art and masterplanning work amongst others.

My background is in town planning, and still do a bit, but also work on visual impact assessments, heritage, crime prevention and also do expert witness work in court.

One day might be spent designing a subdivision. The next walking over a site for a heritage impact report, the next arguing with a local council to get an approval for a 400 unit development then I might do a concept for improving the livability of an area.

I get paid well, I work with great people, I enjoy the work and I can farm out the tedious stuff to underlings.

After 6 pages am dissappointed that there are not more people who hate their job as much as me, only a couple, I actually considered crashing the car on the way to work the other day so I didn't have to go in for a while, not completely maiming myself but enough to warrent a few weeks in hospital

Seriously? You can't think of anything better to do than IT...?
When you reduce it like that, perhaps it sounds ridiculous to many. However, that isn't how I see work. My job involves at times: meeting customers, designing, solving problems, creating products. Just happens to be products that run on computers. Does that make it somehow unworthy?

Anyway, you'll notice in my post that I said I have thought of something "better to do than IT". Yes, I can think of many things I would do if I didn't have to work; what I really mean is that I like my job, and would miss it - I'd even like to continue creating software and working with/talking to the people I do, if money wasn't an issue.
Yeah I guess... It's just that IT for me is so lacking in challenge 90% of the time it feels more like a prison sentence most of the time. To me it's all effectively the same - show data, save data, present it this way, drag it from here and put it here, etc., etc., etc.

I think I need to find something else I'm good at smile

I do now I'm self employed! Hated it before though, worked for a horrible company that caused me no end of stress, left because of that reason!

Mine isn't going anywhere really and is just mundane office stuff, but nice people for the most part and the latest I finish is 6pm. I don't dread going in. I am however waiting for my start date for the Royal Navy, a somewhat different lifestyle hehe

Not this week.

I'm bloody good at it, if I say so myself, but I'm bored and it's starting to show in terms of boring admin tasks I'm not really doing as well as I should and have had 2-3 bking emails from my Boss this week about it - not serious, certainly not enought to warrant a sit-down.

I'm torn between talking to my Boss about a few issues that are really bothering me, namely the fact I'm the only one in the company who didn't get a payrise despite ending the year about 160% of target and leading some things that aren't really in my job description, but it's far from straight forward because my pay is performance related so I actually earn more than anyone else my a margin and I had a large rise last year. I don't actually want cash, I want 5 more days leave, but she keeps dancing around the subject.

So I don't know whether to ask for it and ask for a new challenge, I was all ready to do it on the back of an exceptional July performance, but the email bking has taken away my bargaining position.

Or look to move on, I'm seeing new challenges nearer to home for £10k more a year which is £13k in real terms after transport costs, but I really enjoy some aspects of my job, namely I wear what I like and never work outside 9-5 m-f.

Apply for the roles closer to home, then you're in a strong position to argue your case if you get an offer.
