At long last my training begins at the end of the month. Was due to start over a year ago but with covid and uncertainties over work levels all training was postponed.
The hard work now begins but can't wait.

Congratulations and fingers crossed that you won't be in the pool for long.

Well after being a depot driver at a TOC for a few years, I am starting as a trainee driver for a FOC next month. Exciting and nervous times ahead... smile

That’s who I work for, in fact one of my mates starts next month so will be on the same course as you and a bit of a petrolhead too.

Enjoy the training, there’s a lot to learn but you will be fine with your previous experience.

I'm still in DBs talent pool as far as I'm aware.

The missus works for DB and said those applications were not for actual jobs, just to get into the talent pool abyss.

Happy days, I'm getting a hire car but as the course progresses, the TVR may make an appearance.

Good luck to all those just starting their railway career, I've just found an envelope containing the job ad from the Leicester Mercury circa spring '78 along with a wage slip from the summer of that year! My brother has returned to work after taking early retirement from a PSB to work as a relieve signaller on the Coalville line, my old area as a drivers assistant! Anyone passing over that line give him a wave.

In that case he'll be rubbing shoulders with the Hall brothers, 'Beefy' and Andy, and probably Mr.Kinnear at Bardon Hill, Mantle Lane and Moira wink

Have you heard of 'Pinkie' Salmon Bob...?

MyTrainee's first day today. Due to COVID he has only done around 60mins driving and 1 day experience before coming out for his 225 hours of practical handling with me.

He is completely zapped from the 60 mins his drove today and mind blown with what we have to consider, our constant risk assessments whilst driving, and surprised how quickly things can get on top of you. But he also loved it.

Thread lurkers - give the job a go!

It's a fantastic trade to be in.

No but you're not far off, the guy with the Metro is called Keith. Pinkie also owns several Metros, and about fourteen old motorbikes wink
