employer has backed out of a signed agreement
Discussion
With new management in the shake up begins!.
New operations manager is on a tight budget to turn a site around that is currently running at a loss. Its a well known logistics company and thats all i will say.
Past few months there has been ongoing discussions to reduce an hours paid break to half hour a day. Offers made by the company were rejected by union members. Last week an announcement was made that there were to be individual consultations over a period of 3 days. Basically they offered x amount of pounds to give a half hour a day back to be paid before a certain date (not to far away)(think insentives). Either sign on dotted line or go into 90? Day notice on 2nd of Jan.
Union has stepped in and told them the site is unionised, the offer wasnt run through them. The offer has now been pulled from the people who signed the dotted line. Vague figures suggest 70/30 in favour of the loss of breaks. Good going for union members against the cull but what about the individuals that took the deal?. Copys of the agreement have not been handed out and they seem to be reluctant to give copys out now this has come to light.
Its a tense and angered atmosphere all round and there seems to be a very very very useless union rep who doesn't say much unless accompanied by the regional rep.
Anyone have any input as to where we stand on this matter?.

Is the union recognised? Is there normally collective bargaining through the union?
Hi dave, Yes the union is recognised 3 previous offers were made and the union members had a ballot at every offer which was knocked back.
It was only this time they approached the site as a whole for individual consultations.
