Holiday Entitlement
Discussion
Good morning all,
I am in the first year at my job and usually, in the first year, holiday entitlement is 20 days plus the usual bank holidays, etc.
I joined at the beginning of December and the holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December.
On my holiday forms it states I have 20 days but in my contract it says;
'Holiday entitlement is based on the full time 5.5 day week equivalent of 24 days per annum, pro rated to 2 days for the remainder of 2015 plus the usual public bank holidays, to be taken by arrangement with your Line Manager. Annual holiday entitlement increases with length of service as detailed in the Staff Handbook.'
This, to me, says that I have 24 days from the off, this is all it says about holiday in my contract. I just want to be doubly sure before I bring it up!

Essentially if you're a full time member of staff and work 5.5 days a week then you accrue 2 days per month which is 24 days per year that you can take, if you have taken 4 days and you left after 2 months, you would owe them 2 days.
Providing you don't leave before December you can take 24 days this year.
