Was in that situation myself a few years ago. I hate to say it but I never found the job I wanted, I ended up going back to college to do a HND (and hoping to go on to do a degree so I can move overseas for work). My advice would be apply for EVERYTHING initially, slogging about in a supermarket is better than sitting on your ass even if the work is monotonous and depressing. Once you have your foot in the door somewhere apply for jobs that you would 'like', and be prepared for a lot of knockbacks, the UK job market is a joke at the moment for younger inexperienced people.
