Company being taken over

That's a good start, well done
Your existing company should be providing clear timescales for you.
They sort of are but its such a big undertaking it will take some sorting out, all I can do is suggest a date, was on three months notice anyway, so am fairly sure will be earlier.Your existing company should be providing clear timescales for you.
Was one of eight interviewed for a position, similar role, not too far away and seems a decent sort of company to work for and have got to the second interview with one other guy, had another telephone interview with a different company and that went well, get the feedback on Monday and am fairly confident they will want me to come in to meet them in person.
Just need the current company to decide what they are doing, going to be peed off if they decide I have to work three months notice after two months of "consultation", they have decided they dont need us any more but want to do a "Knowledge Transfer" to the folk in India, of course it is simple to impart ten years of your working life to a pool of hastily recruited people 3000 plus miles away who dont speak English as a first language.

Bit of a generalisation... Some will have been hired, some will be seasoned, highly experienced and well qualified. They may have as much, or more experience than you in a specific technology. The use of India for just labour arbitrage is dieing out, it's more skills and domain capability in many cases. Some CIOs do it just for cost but that has definitely changed in the last 3-4 years.
Ironically, the strength of the UK IT market and Brexit is worrying a lot of CIOs - genuine worry of a skills gap and harder to bring people in from Europe to match demand.

Three second interviews next week, hopefully will get one or more !
Excellent news dude It is stressful though when you arent used to it, rationally I am not concerned but its had me a bit wound up, one down two to go.
Cheers.
Second of the three interviews went really well, the higher up manager wasnt there as half term, he wanted it the following week but I said it would be good if we could do it sooner, the chap was really nice and was more like a chat with a colleague.
I never count chickens but even if I dont get it, I wont be kicking myself for not getting my points across.

Onto third phase with my first preference, which is an online HR thing, then an interview based on that, but looking good.
Second interview in an hour and a half with third choice, waiting on second choice as still interviewing.
Not counting any chickens just yet but am feeling positive and hopeful.

Good feedback from number three, best candidate so far apparently (must be a low bar ), might be agent keeping me sweet but it went well, not that keen on the position, longer commute, less money and company get crap reviews, plus point was interviewed by a guy who was basically Jack Whitehall, same face, same voice, just different hair, smahased the interview but didnt do so well on the technical test as I never write SQL from scratch, I have templates I use.

Cheers, going through quite a bit of online form filling now, its great as it makes it feel real.
Am at home working but not heard a peep from my employers really, my boss hasnt spoken to me properly since this all began, am a bit upset about that, thought we had a pretty good relationship, I am trying to help my guys get sorted but not had more than the odd admin email. We are meant to be doing "knowledge transfer" tot he folk at IBM in India, not heard anything more than a general email, no consultation date yet.
Its all a bit shambolic really, just want a finish date and a payment figure and happy to talk to whoever they nominate, they have given us the end of March as a date, going to be a bit peeved if they decide I need to hang on.
