Looking for some advise.

Does anyone work in the Loss prevention world? I’m looking at a change of direction and this is an area which I’m looking at. Looking towards management roles.

I’ve got a few questions if anyone would be willing to offer an opinion.

Thanks in advance

Loss prevention can mean lots of different things from shoplifting to fire prevention to good H&S practises. What are you looking at specifically?

I was a major insurers surveyor for many years and saved them many millions over that time - if that's the sort of thing you mean you can PM me.

As above - would need to know a bit more about what area you mean.

If it's commodities and quality/quantity loss prevention you're referring to, I may be able to assist.

Thanks for your replies....I have an investigative and intelligence background and in my little head I would like to work for a large organisation dealing with the physical loss of product and the strategy that relates to preventing the loss of product in the first place.

Clearly my understanding of what I’m trying to get into needs to be better and I’ve given myself a telling off and will be working on that.

Sainsburys and Tesco are always looking for security guards laughlaughlaugh

I guess you are really looking at theft from workplaces either internally or externally. You might need training/ knowledge of intruder alarms and signalling, physical protections, CCTV, etc etc for external theft. For internal theft the psychology of it might be a factor but things like CCTV, Stop and search policy and the law, going undercover in large organisations to track the source of thefts would be interesting.

Insurance surveying can be a sorce of some of that training though it's very niche and difficult to get into as its probably the best job in insurance.,
