A quick question if I may..

A person has been employed permanently by a company for approximately 7 years and has been dismissed/made redundant (yes some clarification is needed on this!).

During that 7 years, the original company went 'bust' and a new company with a new director was formed approximately 3 years ago.

There was no gap in employment (or trading) at all, just one day the old company and the next day the new company. No formal notification was given about this, although the employee was aware of what was happening 'behind the scenes'. The company name changed.

There has never been a proper written contract of employment (yes I'm a idiot).

For redundancy purposes, can I go for the full 7 years of payments ?

I assume that citizens advice would be a good first port of call for some more concrete advice on how to ensure I get any payments I am due ?

Assuming everything you’ve typed is accurate then yes it is 7 years unbroken service - ACAS would probably confirm this. They can also advise you on appropriate payments due based on the reason for employment termination.

Yes, a redundancy payment would be based on the full 7 years.
