Good luck OP, didn't regret a day of the 28 years I did in the military even when things were getting "unpleasant".

Set me up for life as an Engineer after leaving school with minimal qualifications, wouldn't have got that anywhere else at that time. The only advice is to grin and bear it through basic training as it gets a whole lot better after that.
