What is wrong working as a taxi controller? It's a great easy job that can work around home and family life. Or even a full time job to pay for extras.
What systems do you use for bookings and work allocation? I assume most of your bookings are still by phone ?

How much influence on allocation of work to your drivers do your controllers have, or is that all done automatically depending on which driver is nearest the job, or a top of the list allocation?

If the controllers are dealing direct with the public and allocating work to drivers I would suggest it is not always as easy and stress free as you are claiming.

A good controller can have a big impact on drivers earnings and efficiency, with the knock on effect of increasing or decreasing your companies car availability at peak times. You seem to be playing down the importance of this job with your pay offer at 13p above the minimum wage and your easy comment above.
Perhaps you'd like to come along for an interview and see for yourself?

I think I'm better qualified than you to tell you controlling my taxis is easy. However, I'm always interested to hear of any way I can decrease costs and increase profit. I also know what the going rate is in my area for a job of this type.

To be honest, blah blah, pay more is not constructive helpful advice.

How about wording along the lines of "we will be pleased to make you a firm job offer, conditional on your successful completion of the local authority badge application process?"
Which is exactly almost to the word, what I said to the two applicants yesterday.

Best place to advertise cheaply changes but I think currently it’s indeed.co.uk

Reminds me of the estate agent thread. Are you in an Uber district?
The Ads are on Indeed.

No, no Uber anywhere near us. And highly unlikely there ever will be. We're far too rural.

Got two decent drivers coming on board which is good and interviewed a lad for a controlling job to do through the summer and to work around his college course come September.

So all in all, with a few helpful pointers from here, it's worked out well.

Yes, he's really keen and personally I'm quite excited at the prospect of employing him. He has already got his application in with the local council and fingers crossed could be on board by the end of next week, depending on how quick his DBS comes back.

With his permission, I'll be promoting it heavily. I think it's a very good thing.
