I also worry for employees when their employer thinks they are 'drones'.

Good luck OP, I'm sure some productive dialogue with your employer will make the position clear and you can move forward positively. Don't let the situation hang if it's bothering you. A decent employer will listen and react openly.
Exactly what I was saying rather than you advocating him asking for money to go quietly. It has never been suggested or even implied that the employer wants him out. You made that up yourself. But if it fits your argument you carry on. Its not relevant here.

To be fair I think you should re-read my first post on the subject this morning. I make no such assumptions and merely propose a strategy IF his employer wants him to leave. You will note my first suggestion is to find out if that's the case, first.

From the perspective of quality engineering here......

Is there anything that could have been implemented into the process that would have stopped you making the mistake?
5Y is a nice tool for quickly assessing where the process fell over.

Only idiots blame people for mistakes, 9 times in 10 mistakes can be traced back to a bad process.
Mistakes should always be engineered out of processes, to the point where mistakes can only be deliberate.

Oh and your manager is a tit for throwing you under the bus, he should have said "yes, ok there's been a mistake and I will deal with it accordingly", instead he's gone running to his boss like a school boy telling tales to the headmaster.

Not as yet, just a little worried about what the future holds.

Being careful what I post, I work for a small company less than 40 employees, since the MD took over around 2 years ago 17 people have left the company by various means including disciplinary.

I am worried that I am almost the next in line so to speak and the next mistake could be my last, what annoys me about the whole issue is that at no time did I try and hide the problem, upfront and honest the whole time and held my hands up plus took steps to sort the issue fully which I did in the end.

Yet this does not seem too matter one bit, time to polish CV I think.

Going to be hard after all these years.

Moral of the story: NEVER go on holiday laugh

Sounds like my place of work, when you are on holiday, you get blamed for everything and become the fall guy, coming back to a st storm of problems that you just know you will have to deal with, thus making your holiday a lot less relaxing than it should be.

Life's a bh isn't it.

Yeah, do it..... Toxic work environment, you'll look back and realise how retarded so much of the daily stuff was.

Fear doesn't motivate people, it makes people miserable and it kills productivity. Only an arrogant ahole would think that making people fear for their jobs, was a good idea.
