Before I start, I've no idea if this is the correct forum for this post but its job related I guess

So my friend has gotten a new job as a prison officer, passed all the necessary tests and starts her training 28th January. Due to her personal stuff, it was decided Bristol was the only place for her to do this training, some 100miles way! She doesn't drive and so commuting just isn't an option. Is anyone able to point me in the direction of somewhere that will do a short term tenancy of 10 weeks whilst she does her training? B&B would become very expensive and so would hotels. Must be somewhere that can help?
Thanks, Jack

Has she tried asking hotels for a special long term rate? At this time of year a lot of places will do a deal if they can a room filled for 10 weeks solid.

She's not got a lot of money to play with, £400 a month is the max. She has emailed hostels about a private room put it that way, anywhere that puts a roof over her head for £400 a month for 10 weeks is the criteria. Anything else is a bonus

how close to Bristol?

My mum could take on a lodger for the short term, she's based in Thornbury.

I'll speak to her about it, I'm unsure where in Bristol her training is. Thornbury is what 30mins outside the centre???

Has your friend actually spoken to anyone in HR (or just anyone!) yet - if she is employed by MoJ, I'd be very surprised if all her associated travel & subsistence (inc' hotels) wouldn't be met by the department.

Edited because I clearly can't write coherently.

A lot of people on Air BnB give big discounts for stays over a month. I had one a while back for about 8 weeks and it was something like 2/3 the normal short term rate.
