Like I said, will pick it up on Monday, they have their meeting on Tuesday and have until lunchtime Wednesday, if I have not heard to my satisfaction that its been sorted, then I will inform that until they sort it out, I am withdrawing from the rota.

I believe it will miraculously be sorted, ever the optimist.

I have taken the advice, in my own (slow) way, Christmas got in the way so couldn't really do much about it, meeting got arranged last week for this week and I have said what my intentions are as of Wednesday if I still don't have a resolution.

We have handed over and I am on call as of now until next Monday at the same time but if I get anything other than they are paying me the outstanding amount and by when I will inform them that until they get it sorted I cannot participate further.

I don't want this every time I need to claim some cash off them.I suspect it may get filed in the too hard basket and I get paid what I am owed and leave it there, but then that leaves them without cover so not sure.

All sorted !

Got an email at 8.47 saying its all been discussed and signed off, they are going to pay the arrears ASAP, and I have provided projected costs for the next six months so they can have it lined up and ready to go. They apologised for the delay and thanked me for my patience.

Cheers for all the advice !

Glad its sorted, dont think getting all confrontational would have made much difference in the final outcome.

Quite capable of it but didnt feel like the right approach, was perfectly prepared to step it up dependent on todays events but they sorted it, I knew they would eventually but things do tend to take a while here.

Money will be handy as spent loads booking a trip over the weekend and bought some Bose headphones to replace my knackered ones, wife jokingly asked where hers were so in a fit of bravado said to the sales chap to add a second pair for her, dont do flash usually but it did mean she was really nice to me for a couple of hours biggrin

Been watching this from when you first posted.

Really glad you have it sorted now.

Great example of keeping your eye on the end prize
Cheers, that was my motivation, get the outstanding cash and keep it going as long as its a decent uplift in take home pay whilst it lasts. Its now my job to ensure I am indispensable by providing a good service.

CDG, did you used to post on Scoobynet ?

I assume the money is now in your bank?
Nope, not as of this morning, its being processed, will check but am assuming it will come in the normal payroll.

Got an answer, lots of stuff about Purchase Orders and invoices.

No actual date, not sure how it is actually paid, so some further arsing about to indulge in it seems.

Mine gets paid in arrears with my monthly salary.
My work forgot to pay my overtime (£340) . I emailed Payroll at 9:50am asking if I had made a mistake entering my overtime form (see, being nicey nicey).

I got a reply back at 10:13am stating that they had made an error, and would arrange payment asap.

At 12:19 PM, I had an E-mail stating they had paid in my overtime to my bank account.
Yeah, cos last time you took four hostages and executed one an hour until it was paid !

The whole thing with this is the fact its two separate divisions, if it were just my divisions payroll I suspect it would be dealt with pretty quickly, I put expenses in and they are done surprisingly quickly.

The problem is moving money between divisions, they weren't sure what to do and even if it was authorized, now they have agreed it and decided how to do it, now they have to actually do it.

Am just going to check progress daily now, ironically the getting paid aspect is a lot more work than actually doing the work.

I think I have had ten or so emails about it today, last one at half eight tonight, was on doing a bit of patching and my boss emailed me about it.

Its getting sorted but its feels like 20 people trying yo do a jigsaw in a dark room.

Will email all interested parties tomorrow and say, pay me the arrears, sort the purchase orders, invoices, cost codes, project codes and all that stuff in the background or I will explain database administration in great detail as its clear you want me to know your job inside out so I will reciprocate biggrin I really shouldnt need to know what goes on behind the scenes, it really ruins the mystique....

I may knock up a diagram in Visio explaining how I see it happening, then it becomes a talking point and they can tell me if its wrong and why, and we may get somewhere, if a picture doesnt work then there is no hope !

Its not who pays me, its how the money gets moved about.

Will pick it up again Monday as nobody seems to be about, plus its a 1 o clock finish for most on Fridays, which is rather wonderful and 90 percent of the reason I wont move jobs, work from home, knock off at one, 2 and a half day weekend, marvelous !

Did work from 7 until 11 last night, patching, but wasnt doing anything else, kick it off, watch some videos on Youtube, hit next, reboot several times etc..

Paid yet?

It's the only indicator that matters. You can't pay a mortgate with an email that says you'll get paid.
Nope, sent an email with the cost code that had been requested, not had chance to do much else as had a few issues to attend to, am paying a visit to the department in question tomorrow so will present in person wearing my big boy pants biggrin

It is progressing, I get emails asking for cost codes and stuff, it is rather painful to be honest but I will keep the momentum going.

I think its because it doesnt fit into the normal procedures and there are multiple individuals involved, none of whom I know, all with a piece of the solution.

Will see what tomorrow brings, once its done I will get all the individuals, who did what to get to actually paying it, then put in the next request and if they query it I will say you said to submit claims every three months, it took four months last time so am getting it in to account for the inevitable delays.

Am sending emails daily, when I get paid, they will stop biggrin

When’s you next turn on the rota?
Monday, just sent an email to all involved asking when I can expect payment, been four months, got a reply with an apology and another finance person has been approached regarding what to do.

Should hopefully have details by the end of the week apparently, not holding breath...

Have drafted a similar email out based on that template and said will cover this week so as not to drop the other lad in it, will speak to my line manager on Monday and then send it based on his response. no point last knockings on a Friday as wont get read until Monday anyway.

Half the problem is knowing who to actually send it to, two sets of finance, two line managers, two sets of HR.

Ah,the poor other guy who’s getting paid!
You used the same excuse in the lead up to Xmas holidays and here you are after this next unpaid shift you are into February and this all started in June!

Iam sure the company thanks you for your understanding.
Didnt want to send it before the weekend to be honest, but Monday morning I speak to my line manager and if he hasnt got any answers I will fire it off.

My guess:

1 No-one budgeted for it
2 Different costs centres are trying to have teflon shoulders
3 Someone may have a (small) hole that may affect their accounts...
4 No business reason to push it as the service is still be delivered, so no need to flag it to higher management

OP, just send the email to resolve (4)
It not that it’s not budgeted for, previously there were two guys, one left to another business unit, carried on for a while but was travelling too much to continue.

It’s been agreed by the section I am doing the cover for, I cleared it with my old manager and my new one is helping to sort it out.

The problem is they don’t know what to do, different systems and processes, would be easier if were entirely separate companies rather than bits of a bigger one.

I shouldn’t have to chase, I am going to ping my line manager and if I don’t get a satisfactory answer I send the email saying I will withdraw support.

It’s weird, it seems close, then another roadblock appears, it’s like ten names involved and nobody seems to know what to do.

It’s difficult to direct my ire as no real focal point, not really sure who does what, I don’t care, shouldn’t need to know. Feel like I may as well bark at the moon, if I could identify the right people it would be easier.

Gone on way too long now, I was told I would hear something today, but if you don’t hear by noon, I have learnt you won’t, that’s the culture, early dash on a Friday, may hang on to do stuff but generally done and dusted by one.

There is no ulterior motive or desire to wind me up, just them not coping with something they don’t normally do.
