Getting to go into local schools to work on STEM projects. Before Christmas I spent 8 weeks helping an after school club with their First Lego League project.

Leaving the office a 3pm each Monday to and play with Lego robots is a great perk.

Imagine the week on / week off offshore techs, travel out to wind turbines everyday by boat.

Start shift
Wind above 12m/s - cant use the crane - come back onshore - go home
Waves above 2.5m - cant get off the boat without getting creamed by the deck chasing you up the turbine ladder - come back onshore - go home
End of shift

You can imagine how many days off those lads have had in the last couple of months!

Just had 2 weeks of that. But I’ve now got 2 weeks off, that’s the best perk of the job!
That’s why we are building SOVs to kettle you boys in smile

I'm a service team manager (service advisor really) for a main dealer.

Parts for my car at not much more than cost for my car and buy a technician a crate of something, making servicing/repairs cheap.

Good bonus structure.

Good pension.

It's only 20 minutes away.

Lots of travel all over the world and a pretty generous expenses policy that subscribes to the “don’t take the piss” theory.

Flexible working arrangements and generally being treated like an adult.

Decent holiday entitlement

All in all, I really enjoy working for my employer.

Pretty similar to me, except translate “World” to “UK and Ireland” and sometimes “Europe”.

I have flexibility over where I work, diary and plan my own travel.

Our expenses policy is flexible provided we don’t take the piss and expenses pretty much cover everything during the working week.

Not everyone (I suspect not even many, once they've done it for a while) would think that's a perk!

Quite true. And quite often it is a drag, but I feel very privileged to have seen many countries and done many things that I would never have had the chance to have done otherwise.

Before retiring I had my own small business.

The two best perks, were

1) Working with my wife.

2) Bringing our dogs to work.

IT Geek here. Nothing amazing, but reasonable benefits.

25+BH (Have to work one of 5 as on-call occasionally, other three get paid £300 for the day + on call allowance, again split amongst team)
Beer & Soft drinks in fridge.
Breakfast supplied.
BUPA Healthcare.
OT outside of normal hours despite being salaried.

But the best perk is getting to go to the datacentres and install shiny new kit all the time smile That's great fun for me!

Work from home with an optional use of nice office in London if I want to use it/meet clients there. Fridge full of beers/soft drinks and fresh coffee.

Expenses. For pretty much everything as long as don’t take the piss.

Plan my own diary, hands off boss.

Go on lots of courses and opportunities to learn/CPD.

Mix of meetings with Architects/Engineers and site meetings.

Lots of (expensed) social events, saw Cirque Du Soleil a few days ago, Goodwood, Silverstone, golf etc.

Pay’s good, nice car, relaxed fuel policy.

Pretty decent really, the only thing I’d like extra is some international travel, but maybe in the future as it’s a global co.

Job satisfaction. Also, the ability to do a four day week (and get paid 80% of whole time equivalent.....the extra day off is well worth the reduction in pay)

That does sound pretty good. Aside from the dog bit. wink

As a keen photographer, for me, I can only imagine how many hours would end being sidetracked...

If I could take my two in with me I would go to the office far more often!

No one really did at our place until the top boss changed over, he's a big into bring your dog to work. We've nearly always got one in my bit of work now. I quite like it.

My boss/team leaders are great. As are the rest of the team. Not a very generous company, but they'd not screw you over.
