New driver and speeding. Revocation?
Discussion
Courts are minded to avoid “preferential bans” in lieu of points where said points would result in revocation.
I’d say he’s odds on at that speed for 6 points and automatic relocation by DVLA. Too fast for 3 points, too slow for a straight ban.
5 points would be possible but, again, they’d know - and perhaps think it prudent - that 6 would mean a reassessment of driving ability.

Stopped doing 102moh on motorway in UK
Likely outcome and is there any point in him instructing a specialist solicitor?
Cheers me dears
Why did you choose to do such a speed is a more pertinent question for a new driverStopped doing 102moh on motorway in UK

He’s already had a course for speeding past a variable camera.
And it took him 8 goes to pass.
I refer back to my first line.
His dad is encouraging him to lie. About what I have no idea. To give him some credit he is point blank refusing to do that.

Lie about what? Say that he wasn’t driving? That’s about the only lie I can think of for this situation. Doesn’t work out overly well. Sounds like he’s lucky he has you as a voice of reason and sound judgement. He’s already had a course for speeding past a variable camera.

Just my two penneth, if he’s bang to rights little point in lawyering up. Attend court, look smart, be apologetic and remorseful. Take what’s coming and he can learn from it.
Will be interesting to see how the Mags deal with him. I shouldn’t imagine that sort of speed from a driver with 15 months experience will amuse them. OP Plse keep us updated with the outcome.
34 years ago I got caught at over 100 mph on a motorway, and I was over 30 at the time.
Fine and a one month ban.
Best thing that ever happened to me - I was habitually driving far too fast and inevitably I would have had a serious accident some time soon, possibly fatal.
It slowed me down.

Maybe his poor judgement is inherited?
Sounds like it. Dad sounds like a wicked role model. If it's of any use, when I was in front of the magistrate with 6 points on my licence and facing another 6 (after the Clerk of the Court gave me a stern talking to for driving there) I did have some mitigating circumstances in that the road had very recently been reclassified from a 40 to a 30 and they didn't know this. I don't think you could argue that in this case. I had a lot of previous speeding offences in the past too (I think mostly SP30s bu there had been a lot staggered over years), so I couldn't really argue that I hadn't been silly in the past.
I don't think the fact the fact that he took 8 attempts is relevant, only that he's a slow learner. We all do stupid stuff but there's nothing really he can do to mitigate the impact.

He's odds on for 6 points, because it's in that band and the Mags know that 6 points = revocation for a new driver, and they have guidance that explicitly states that they should avoid discretionary bans in lieu of points in these circumstances.
Saying he needs his licence for work won't matter one jot because it's not the courts that are imposing a ban, it's the DVLA revoking his licence incidentally, and because of the aforementioned guidance.

Personal opinion if somebody has to have 8 goes to pass their test they shouldn't be allowed to drive - should have a max of 5 goes
As for then deciding to drive over the ton with very little experience - that's idiotic in the extreme, especially with one "get out of jail" card already played
Should be revoked and it wouldn't surprise me if they then take another 8 goes to pass their retest
Difficult call as to whether he is a DI's dream (bank balance) or worst nightmare (lack of spacial awareness and mechanical sympathy)
